ESPN’s Amin Elhassan Mocks Kevin Owens’ Son For Being Proud Of His Dad

Earlier today, we posted an article about Kevin Owens’ son Owen, and his reaction to his father winning the WWE Universal Championship on Raw, which was a fairly heartwarming moment that even managed to touch the emotions of notoriously cynical wrestling fans. But not, however, the cold dead heart of ESPN employee Amin Elhassan, who felt the need to respond to the video of Owen’s reaction to his dad’s title victory with the following: read more

New Universal Champion Kevin Owens Is The Best Dad Ever

Kevin Owens may be the most dastardly heel that WWE has seen for some time, and one of the most hated men in pro wrestling, but off-screen, he’s also a devoted husband and father, whose family just got to see him win the WWE Universal Title on Raw, by far the biggest accomplishment of his long career. Here’s his son, Owen (who, like KO himself, was named as a tribute to the late Owen Hart, and yes, in kayfabe, that means his name is Owen Owens), in the minutes after watching his dad win the title. read more

Alberto Del Rio Actually Quit WWE Before He Was Suspended

In an update to a story we ran yesterday about Alberto Del Rio being removed from all future scheduled WWE live appearances, it appears that the rumors are true and Del Rio will be finishing up with the company as of the last day of September, thanks to an “out” clause in his contract. In fact, Del Rio reportedly gave the company 60 days notice of his intentions, which means that WWE was already aware that he was leaving when suspended him 30 days for his first violation of the Wellness Policy before SummerSlam (as well as his girlfriend Paige, which definitely makes it look like the suspension had more than a fair share of spite involved). read more

WATCH: AJ Styles vs The Top Rope After Smackdown Live!

One of the last shots of Smackdown Live! was #1 Contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Title AJ Styles, painfully sitting astride the top rope, after being knocked there by Dean Ambrose. Always a comical spot worthy of mention, but Styles went the extra step further after the show went off the air. According to live reports, Styles stayed in that very uncomfortable position for roughly ten-fifteen minutes, while other wrestlers made their entrances for the post-show dark match, which was scheduled to be Styles teaming with Seth Rollins against John Cena and Roman Reigns. And as each wrestler made their way into the ring, they decided to mess with the Phenomenal One’s predicament. Here’s some fan footage of exactly what happened. read more

Universal Title Match Brings More Viewers To Raw

We’re not quite going to go all the way and say that “KO=Ratings”, but the main event of Raw this week, which featured Kevin Owens defeating Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Big Cass (with a little help from a rogue Triple H) to win the Universal Title was notable for a couple of different reasons. First of all, for the first time in a long time, the third hour of Raw did not lose a significant number of viewers, and actually gained viewers when compared to the opening hour (which is usually the strongest). Second of all, the higher number of third hour viewers helped Raw to its highest numbers since mid-June, even better than the post-SummerSlam Raw last week. Overall, Raw averaged 3.41 million viewers and a 1.17 rating in the 18-49 demographic. While the demo rating was slightly down from last week, it was still good enough to give Raw the win among original cable programming for the evening. read more

Alberto Del Rio Removed From All Future WWE Appearances

This likely comes as no surprise after his Wellness suspension and the rumors that he had an “out” clause in his contract, but it looks like Alberto Del Rio’s second run in WWE has come to a close. The Mexican Aristocrat has been removed from all scheduled appearances for WWE, even after his suspension ends at the beginning of September. This would seem to be a strong indicator that Del Rio will more than likely sit out the rest of his contract without appearing on WWE TV, his final appearance a loss to John Cena on the Smackdown before SummerSlam. read more

11 WrestleMania 33 Match Predictions, Post-SummerSlam Edition

SummerSlam is in the books, which means we’re basically at the halfway point in the wrestling year. That’s right, it’s all downhill to WrestleMania from here. Figuratively, and hopefully not literally, anyway. And even though WWE is in some form of semi-controlled chaos due to the brand extension and being forced to crown two Universal Champions within the first two weeks of the title’s existence, there are still some thing we’ve seen that have led us to make a reasonable assumptions about where things could go if WWE was currently being booked with WrestleMania in mind. And we can’t prove that it’s not, so we’ll give them the benefit of the doubt (this time), and assemble a list of matches that we think could possibly happen at WrestleMania 33 in Orlando. read more

WWE Reports Cesaro Suffered A Back Injury On Raw

As much as we’re not particularly thrilled with having Sheamus and Cesaro stuck in an endless Best of Seven series against each other while other people are doing things like having awesome matches for the vacant WWE Universal title, at least they’re making the effort to have different finishes to their matches thus far. At the end of the second match, which happened on Raw, Sheamus tossed Cesaro back-first into the ring post (can we still call them steel ring posts if they’re now mostly LED screens?), then earned a quick victory with a Cloverleaf submission hold. Today, WWE reported the following on their website: read more
