Machinima may not be officially 100% dead, but that might just be a matter of semantics.
This is purely a rumor at this point and should be taken with a grain of salt, but it’s looking like Sony is interested in bringing some type of backward capability to their next generation console. In a recent patent discovery, Mark Cerny noted about a potential backward capable system which may reveal that the next PlayStation console will be able to provide support for at least the PlayStation 4 line of video games. However, perhaps this could go further back with the previously released line of PlayStation consoles.
If you’ve tried out Anthem in any of its comically numerous preview sessions, you might’ve noted that the mouse and keyboard controls don’t feel quite right. Yesterday marked the twentieth year anniversary to one of the biggest staple franchises for survival horror, Silent Hill. Fans online who have tweeted out their love and appreciation over the first release of Silent Hill and the various video game titles that released shortly after may have hoped that there would secretly be an announcement for the much beloved franchise. Konami’s former Team Silent unit managed to craft a terrifying journey for players to embark and now that the game is twenty years old, those few fans who were hoping that the game would receive a remake announcement were letdown.
Nintendo has recently taken a chance with the mobile market. Instead of delivering video games exclusively to their line of consoles and portable gaming systems, Nintendo opted to deliver a new line of portable video games that could be accessed through both iOS and Android devices. There may not be a wide selection of video games from Nintendo’s IP library, but you so far have some heavy hitters. Currently, players can enjoy titles such as Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, and Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. Though there are a number of other Nintendo video games in the works, one of which is a Mario Kart title known as Mario Kart Tour.
