It’s been a long time since we’ve had any games based on the Dune franchise, but now it looks like we’ll be getting at least three games in the next six years – including a Dune MMO.
Day: February 27, 2019
You’re likely aware of Overkill’s The Walking Dead. It was an anticipated video game title that was pushed back over development and when it got its gameplay trailers, fans quickly got concerned. There were comments from potential players that the game looked dated for today’s standards and when it finally did release, the game was hit with a series of poor reviews. This created a ton of consequences that started to release over the following months. For instance, Starbreeze Studios, the publishers who brought out the PC version of the game fired the CEO, who then had emails leaked out blaming the developers over at Overkill for not providing a decent product.
If you enjoyed the Hitman video game release back in 2016 then you won’t want to miss out on its sequel. Hitman 2 continues on with the narrative journey left off in the previous installment. Players will once again step into the role of Agent 47 where he will be taking on contracts and killing off the designated targets. However, the overall goal in Agent 47’s mind is taking out the Shadow Client from the previous video game storyline. There is also another change up from the past title and that this time around players will not have to deal with an episodic release. Unlike Hitman, Hitman 2 had a standard video game launch with the entire game being available right from its release. But, if you’re still unsure if the game is right for you then there is a new option that will allow you to get a bit of gameplay to try out.
If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on the Lovecraft inspired The Sinking City then you’re going to need a bit more patience as it appears to have been delayed. It was noted by PC Gamer that the video game was originally displayed with a release date of March 21, 2019 on the Steam marketplace. Unfortunately, it looks like the date was taken down and now in its place is a 2019 placeholder. So far no word has been given out as to why the game is being held back but for now, it seems we’ll be waiting just a bit longer.
When it comes to games as of a service title, there’s usually a bigger focus in getting players to playing either by picking up additional expansions or other microtransactions. The latter can be quite controversial with aspects such as loot boxes becoming a topic as of this generation. For instance, some can easily argue that these loot boxes can be very much like gambling with players spending money in hopes to acquire a specific item. Anthem is one of the latest video game titles released within this new genre market and it’s certainly has a few faults which we covered in our Before You Buy upload. However, one aspect that may have gamers a bit frustrated is the drop rate adjustment and it could potentially leave some gamers already tapping out.
The Division 2 is set to launch very soon, and while pre-orders are live, we haven’t gotten much detail on what comes in the Year 1 pass attached to the more expensive versions of the game. A store listing gives us a clue about what to expect, and it sounds pretty similar to what we’ve seen from other Ubisoft titles like Rainbow Six Siege and For Honor.
