After last week’s confirmation of Destiny 2’s Shadowkeep expansion, alongside a number of structural changes including cross-save, Bungie’s presence at E3 has been understandably quieter than normal. But the devs still found time to swing by E3 Coliseum to follow up on their announcements, and they had some interesting things to say about how they’re preparing for the looming console generation.

You can hardly claim that the futuristic, dystopian setting of Night City is a hospitable place to call home. It’s a gritty dog-eat-dog world where most things want to kill you – or at least hustle you out of your remaining cash and drugs – so you’ve got plenty of weapons and abilities with which to defend yourself. So, it takes a pretty saintly soul to turn the other cheek and complete V’s adventure without killing anyone at all.

Bethesda’s online Fallout effort wasn’t exactly a traditional entry to the series when it launched last year, and a big part of that was down to its lack of Fallout 76 NPCs. Players instead found themselves with little in terms of dialogue options as they spoke to robots and terminals, reinforcing the sense that choices had little consequence. However, now that non-playable humans are on their way to the multiplayer game, they’re going to look plenty familiar.
