Final Fantasy XIV: Shadowbringers expansion released back in late July, and this is its first major update. Square Enix wanted to come out with a bang, and what a better way to do it than to bring Nier Automata’s world into FFXIV.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare’s beta is ongoing, and so far, the community’s feedback was mostly positive regarding its first half. There were definitely a few comments on Activision and Infinity Ward’s decision on removing the minimap from the players’ HUD.
One of the most memorable gags in Borderlands 2 is when you and Claptrap head up to confront Handsome Jack. Your robot companion is talking up the big moment the whole way, until the moment the giant gate opens up to reveal… stairs. The one thing Claptrap’s singular wheel can’t overcome. Yet the little bot seems to have suddenly overcome his stair problem in time for Borderlands 3.
It’s been close to a year since the first part of Deltarune launched, and while it was a tantalising glimpse of what to expect in the wake of Undertale, we still don’t know much more about what the full game will look like. Over the weekend, creator Toby Fox shared a few details on Deltarune’s development in celebration of Undertale’s fourth birthday.
You’ve likely heard of the Dino Crisis franchise. It was developed by Capcom and essentially it was another survival-horror title much like Resident Evil. However, unlike Resident Evil, the main antagonist of this game series was dinosaurs which may sound a bit wacky on paper to compare it with Resident Evil, but this series had a pretty decent following. It’s been years since we’ve seen Capcom touch the video game franchise and there was some hope over the past few years in particular that the development studio would go back and release the game as a remake for fans much like how they handled Resident Evil and the more recent release of Resident Evil 2.
Final Fantasy VII is a staple entry to the Final Fantasy franchise and after years of pleading by fans of the original PlayStation release, Square Enix is finally giving players a proper remake. This is coming out into the marketplace next year and as of late we’ve seen plenty of new footage along with stage shows to unveil more information about the upcoming title. With that said, there is one element that fans of the original title may not have been too thrilled about.
Mortal Kombat is a well-known video game franchise that has been around for decades and through its lifetime we’ve received some actual film adaptations. There’s always an urge to get more video game film adaptations into the market and while most are not as great as fans had hoped for, Greg Russo is hoping that the Mortal Kombat film will be appealing enough to warrant a watch when it officially hits the cinema.
Final Fantasy XIV players have had time to catch up on the Shadowbringers story, maybe level some new classes, and broadly enjoy all the new stuff from the latest expansion. The first major post-launch patch has been scheduled for a vague ‘October’ release date for some time, and Square Enix has provided a quick, English-language overview of what the developers showed for patch 5.1 at Tokyo Game Show last week.
It’s 2019, and the standards for a game’s success are rapidly shifting. Gears 5 sales – at least in the UK – have been just a fraction of its predecessors, yet Microsoft is saying that this is “biggest launch week of any Xbox Game Studios title this generation.” Microsoft has run a whole bunch of heavy promotion for Xbox Game Pass leading into the new title’s release, and it looks like the subscription era is truly upon us.
