Outriders developer People Can Fly has worked on oodles of iconic games. The Polish developer created Gears of War: Judgment, and it worked on Fortnite after Epic Games subsumed the developer in 2013. It has made some fan favourites, too, releasing first-person shooter Bulletstorm in 2011. However, one of the biggest influences on its upcoming sci-fi shooter Outriders – the first title the developer is releasing since it split from Epic Games in 2015- is Diablo.

There’s a lot of People Can Fly’s videogame history in new sci-fi shooter Outriders. Sprinting from cover-to-cover under fire from foes is reminiscent of Gears of War: Judgement, and some of the dark humour will make the most hardened Bulletstorm fan grin. While People Can Fly helped out with Fortnite under the name Epic Games Poland, the battle royale’s microtransactions and games-as-a-service model will not be present in Outriders.
You’re going to have to wait a little bit longer to get your hands on Bulletstorm developer People Can Fly’s new shoot ‘em up. The Outriders release date is now set for the holiday period, 2020. The original launch was pencilled in for this summer. There’s no need to panic, though, as it just comes down to forward planning. Speaking to PCGamesN, studio head Sebastian Wojciechowski explains that the developer thought it was wise to release the new game just after the PS5 and Xbox Series X launched, rather than just before.
