Destiny 2 PS5 and Xbox Series X Release Date Revealed, Next-Gen Upgrades Detailed

On December 8th, Destiny 2 will receive a free update on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Bungie has revealed some of the inclusions fans can expect to see, but they are quite similar to what’s been revealed for games like For Honor and Borderlands 3. Those playing on Xbox Series X and PS5 can expect to see 4K resolution, 60fps, faster load times, and a field of view slider. New project aims to save source code for classic games, starting with Monkey Island

While YouTube might have brought us a cottage industry dedicated to highlighting great old games, the actual field of videogame history studies is still expanding. The Video Game History Foundation has been working to preserve gaming history for years now, and is expanding that mission with a new project called the Video Game Source Project. The effort’s first targets will be the first two Monkey Island games. read more


PlayStation Confirms Controversial Removal of PS3, PSP, and Vita Games

PlayStation has confirmed an upcoming change to the PlayStation Store involving PS3, PSP, and PS Vita games that leaked earlier this month. More specifically, Sony Interactive Entertainment has begun sending out emails to PlayStation users letting them know that a brand-new PlayStation Store is launching on web and mobile this month, and when it does, it will remove the option to purchase games from the aforementioned systems. read more


Baldur’s Gate 3 can be beaten in 7 minutes, apparently

7 minutes! It’d take me thrice as long just to get through character creation, at least. Baldur’s Gate 3 may only offer a portion of the final planned experience right now, but even that lengthy chunk has been boiled down to a mere 7 minutes by speedrunner Cary “Professor Palmer” Palmer, who’s figured out a way to quite literally jump through the entire thing in the blink of an eye. read more


FIFA 21’s Competitor Mode AI just got better at defending

Title Update 3 for FIFA 21 is out on PC now, a couple days ahead of its rollout on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. There’s a long list of changes to EA’s annual football title – and unfortunately, none of them address the perennial cheating problem that FIFA fans face on PC. However, if you’re a seasoned expert playing at the upper difficulties, this patch may have some extra mustard for you. read more


New Atari Hotels Renders Show Las Vegas Mothership Location

Atari is expanding its brand to include a chain of hotels, and the company has revealed new renders of its “mothership” location, coming to Las Vegas, Nevada. Created by the architecture and design firm Gensler, the hotel will feature visuals that pay homage to the history of the video game medium, as well as its present. The hotel will apparently offer restaurants, nightclubs, AR/VR experiences and, of course, retro arcades. It remains to be seen whether or not the hotels will live up to the concept, but the renders certainly show a lot of potential!
