Once again, it looks like there’s reason to wonder if a Red Dead Redemption PC port might be on the horizon. There’s been Rockstar Social Club source code, Stadia Rockstar information, and a LinkedIn reference hinting – though far from confirming – that we might one day see the game gallop onto our PCs. Now, there’s a rating application that could also suggest a PC port’s in the works.
As reported by PCGamer, an application for a Red Dead Redemption 2 rating has popped up on the Australian Classification Board’s website. It appears that it wasn’t submitted by the game’s developer, Rockstar, but instead the IARC (International Age Rating Coalition), which looks to obtain ratings for videogames across different countries, using some automation as part of the process. The listing seems to have been approved with an age rating of MA 15+, with the date of classification given as August 20.
Details included in the listing are sparse and it makes no mention of a PC port, so it’s far from confirmation that one is in the works. However, it’s not clear why a new classification application has been submitted, and a new version could potentially be behind it. The original console application covers ‘multi platform’ releases but it seems possible that a new PC release could prompt another application to review the game’s classification, even if the content was the same.
With the arrival of the Rockstar Games Launcher for PC last week, perhaps we can be (cautiously) hopeful that this application could link to a PC version designed to be available on this platform at some point. Perhaps.
This follows news of a mysterious ratings application that appeared last month for something called ‘Bonaire,’ which some speculated could be linked to Red Dead Redemption 2. It looks like this has now been taken down, however. What this new application might mean, it looks like we’ll have to wait and see.
