Professional wrestler Alberto El Patron (also known as Alberto Del Rio during his time in WWE) is no longer a suspect in a domestic violence incident that occurred a couple weeks ago in Orlando.
According to Pro Wrestling Sheet, an Orlando Police Department representative has confirmed their investigation concluded with the opinion that El Patron did nothing illegal. However, El Patron’s girlfriend could still be in hot water.
Local police are considering charging Paige with battery, which would be consistent with the version of events she posted on Twitter last week. She claimed that during an argument, she threw a drink at El Patron. She also said that there was no other physical contact, and the police only got involved because a woman witnessed the altercation and assumed that El Patron has been the aggressor.
El Patron was suspended indefinitely by Global Force Wrestling when the news broke, which put the promotion in a tough spot since he is still their World Champion. We suspect that GFW will rescind the suspension as soon as they confirm the results of the investigation.
Paige, real name Saraya-Jade Bevis, is still under contract to the WWE. She is a former Divas Champion, but has been off television for almost a year now after suffering a neck injury. During that time, she also received two suspensions via the WWE Wellness Policy. With this latest incident potentially getting Paige into legal trouble, the WWE may be considering a suspension or punishment of their own, or possibly terminating her contract altogether.
