Among the issues the Anthem community has raised about the game, loot is perhaps the most pressing. A recent patch was intended to fix endgame loot drops, but didn’t fully address the problems and created some new ones of its own. BioWare has more substantial changes in mind for how loot works, but for now, high-difficulty drops are getting boosted broadly.
The update increases Masterwork and Legendary drop rates for Grandmaster 2 and Grandmaster 3 difficulty levels. Additionally, those two loot tiers are boosted for tougher enemies across all difficulties. So no matter what level you’re playing at, you’ll get better drops from Epic Titans, and Legendary Titans, Furies, Acid Ursixes, and Luminary Elders.
There aren’t any specific percentages for what’s changed, but a response from BioWare on Reddit describes them as “pretty significant.” This balance change is all server-side – so no updates for you to download. (You probably can also take that as an indication that further tuning changes like this can happen fairly quickly without a patch to distribute.)
The announcement on Reddit also links back to a tweet from Chad Robertson, BioWare’s head of live service. Robertson says “We’re not yet fully happy with the game’s loot behavior either,” and that over “the next few months, we’re expecting to make significant changes, but we’re starting with some incremental ones so we can better navigate that evolution.”
In other words, today’s update is just a small step toward more fundamental changes.
