The good ol’ shoot interview. In wrestling terms, it’s an interview or promo that is “legit.” In other words, it goes off script or contains personal feelings and behind the scenes secrets. While they rarely happen on television anymore (other than the occasional “worked shoot”), many former wrestlers are quick to jump onto YouTube after their contracts expire and start dishing out dirt on their former bosses and co-workers.
The internet was quick to cast blame when it was reported in early May that Sean Waltman (aka X-Pac, aka Syxx, aka The 1-2-3- Kid) had been arrested at LAX airport for possession of meth and marijuana. Having a long and public history of drug addiction, many wrestling fans feared the worst for Waltman. However, in the days after the arrest, the former NWO member insisted that it was all a misunderstanding.
As expected, Chris Jericho is taking some time off from the WWE. Officially, it’s because Kevin Owens powerbombed him into the apron and he’s injured. Unofficially, of course, his time off is because he is busy touring with his rock band Fozzy.
Ubisoft has released the first official trailer for Far Cry 5, which will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on February 27, 2018.
Jinder Mahal is the new WWE champion, part of the company’s attempt to broaden their business in India, one of the most populated countries on the planet. Of course, Mahal was actually born in Canada, but whatever. The WWE isn’t about to let the truth get in the way of a great story (and millions of rupees in potential revenue).
The sights and sounds of Street Fighter II bring me back to a time when I would spend every quarter I had on the arcade version down at my local pizza place. With the release of Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers on the Nintendo Switch, Capcom is hoping that your nostalgia is strong enough for you to drop $40 on a 30 year old fighting game. The classic fighting game from the 90’s features a revamped art style, HD graphics, and several new game modes. Ultra Street Fighter II features all of the original characters including an unlocked Akuma as well as two new fighters: Evil Ryu and Violent Ken. The game also features an online mode that was not yet available at the time of this review. Street Fighter II is seen by many as the pinnacle of 2D fighters, but has Capcom done enough to warrant the $40 asking price?
Capcom will consider releasing more games on the Nintendo Switch based on how well Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers performs, according to the company’s COO.
For any internet “smart” fan, it was hardly a surprise when Jinder Mahal rose to the main event of SmackDown Live and eventually won the WWE Championship from Randy Orton at Backlash. It had been rumored for weeks that the WWE and Vince McMahon wanted to make a serious business push into India, the home of 1.3 billion people. McMahon felt it would be much easier to push things like merchandise and WWE Network subscriptions if the company had a champion that the people of India could identify with. Thus, Jinder Mahal’s championship reign was born.
Ever since Pokemon Go was released last Summer, there’s been a debate about what constitutes “cheating.” The online communities of Reddit and The Silph Road seem to have agreed that using third party maps is not cheating, but using any kind of GPS spoofing technology to “jump” to gyms and rare spawns is playing unfair, along with using multiple accounts. Of course, many of those third-party tracking apps use bot accounts to scan for nearby Pokemon.
