We’re not exactly sure why Conor McGregor is focusing all his attention on WWE the week before UFC 202 instead of his opponent for that evening, Nick Diaz. Maybe in some weird way, this was part of the cross-promotional agreement UFC made with WWE to promote SummerSlam, which will take place the day after McGregor’s fight. Or maybe McGregor is just paving the way for a WWE appearance in the future, possibly after he gets destroyed for fighting outside his weight class again.
Whatever the case, McGregor was at it again this weekend, giving a press conference that seemed to exist only so he could call out WWE Superstar John Cena. Here’s some of Conor’s thoughts on Cena:
I just said it like it is. They’re dweebs. What’s the main guy? John Cena. He’s 40. He’s 40 years of age. He’s walking around in a luminous orange t-shirt and a headband talking about nobody can see him. We can see him right there. He’s a big fat, 40-year-old failed Mr. Olympia motherf***er. They’re dweebs, those guys.”
To be fair, Cena wears a baseball cap and has moved away from the eye-searing t-shirt colors recently, but we wouldn’t expect McGregor to be entirely accurate in his ranting, as, like we mentioned earlier, he is very busy preparing to lose to Nate Diaz this Saturday.
Showing that he knows where his bread is buttered, however, McGregor had very positive things to say about the man who signs the checks in WWE.
“Vinny Mac is a f***ing legend. They wrote Vinny off a few years ago when he dropped from the billions and then he rose back up and now he’s back in the billionaire club. What he’s been able to do with that bunch of dweebs he has over there at the moment has been phenomenal, and I respect him for that.”
As for John Cena, well, this is the only thing even close to a response on social media. Classy as always, John.
Achievement often breeds contempt. The more you achieve the more contempt you will see. Stay focused on you and moving forward. #NeverGiveUp
