Now that Conor McGregor is a two division champion in the UFC (and the first fighter to ever accomplish that), there’s a lot of speculation of what he might do next. Mixed martial arts purists want him to start defending those belts, but there are other options; a much-rumored fight with Floyd Mayweather, a foray into movies or television, or simply taking some time off until his first child is born in May.
One potential career path that keeps popping up when McGregor’s name is mentioned is a stint in the WWE. In the world of combat sports, there is currently no name bigger and no mouth louder than McGregor’s. While his smaller size could be an issue in the WWE, his incredible mic work would get him over almost instantly. McGregor’s agent, Audie Attar, appeared on ESPN’s 5ive Rounds podcast on Tuesday and said they would definitely take a call from Vince McMahon.
“I think it’s all about business, man,” Attar said. “If [WWE] is going to come with an offer, we are willing to entertain it. We are here. Have their people call his people — which is me. We can have a conversation.”
When asked whether McGregor would simply make an appearance, like Ronda Rousey’s Wrestlemania 31 cameo, or actually wrestle in a match, Attar basically said “show me the money.”
“Again, I think ultimately Conor will say, ‘Let me talk to my friend Benjamin [Franklin] to see how many of his friends he’s bringing with him before we talk about what the obligations are,’” Attar said.
McGregor has made it quite clear that he’s only in the fight game to make the most money possible. If the WWE comes with a sweet enough offer, maybe we’ll see McGregor at WrestleMania 33.
