Dr Disrespect has been banned from Twitch, after streaming from a bathroom

Dr Disrespect has been banned from Twitch. At time of writing, his channel is listed as unavailable (click here to see for yourself).

For his first ever IRL (in real life) stream, the provocative personality filmed his day at E3. He went to use the bathroom, and his cameraman followed.

This in itself might have been enough to get him banned. Filming others in public without their consent is generally fine under California state law, but not in a public bathroom, or anywhere else where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy. Twitch’s community guidelines prohibit illegal activity – as you’d hope – but also have specific terms against violating “another’s reasonable expectation of privacy, for example streaming from a private space.”

Dr Disrespect has yet to say anything on the matter. His last tweet is an advertisement for the ill-fated stream, which began roughly three hours ago:

While the reaction on Resetera has been far less sympathetic than that of the Doc’s fans on Reddit, both communities seem confident that the ban will only be a 24-hour slap on the wrist – the latter charging that prediction with hope and the former with cynicism.

It’ll be interesting to see how long the ban lasts. It’s his first, and, as this was his first IRL stream too, Twitch could easily write this off as an isolated incident and a mistake – though it’s hard to see how it could’ve been committed without a pretty stupid and dare I say disrespectful lack of regard for others’ privacy.
