Sony’s Paris Games Week 2017 Media Showcase featured a number of interesting title reveals, action-packed trailers and future teases. One of the titles revealed was ONRUSH, developed by Formula 1 developer Codemasters.
ONRUSH is being handled by former Evolution Studios developers, since they are already under Codemasters since 2016. The game’s development team also features Game Director Paul Rustchynsky, who previously served as DRIVECLUB’s director. Rustchynsky expressed his excitement to finally reveal ONRUSH to the public and emphasised the game’s most important factor, “fun.”
We are extremely excited to finally be able to talk about ONRUSH. The team grew up playing iconic, arcade racing games so it is great to have the opportunity to re-imagine those experiences on today’s consoles and bring something fresh to the market. We believe that it is something that gamers are crying out for.
The most important factor in the game is that it has to be fun. It is not about tire choices, car setups or even racing lines; it’s about edge of your seat action and taking death defying risks in order to reap the biggest rewards.
A brief description of the title was provided by Codemasters’ Senior Community Manager Christina McGrath, highlighting ONRUSH’s fast-paced and action-packed racing.
It’s been too long since there was an awesome, all-out arcade racing game! It’s great that there’s so much choice for those of you who love choosing tyres and tweaking set-ups, but what happened to the love for physics-defying, fast-paced, all-action racing? Onrush is a brand new game that celebrates everything you loved about the iconic arcade titles of yesteryear, but in a visually stunning, phenomenally fun and fresh take on what it means to race.
So far, ONRUSH is scheduled for a Summer 2018 release for PS4 and Xbox One, priced at $59.99. Make sure to check out the announcement trailer below.
