Fortnite could be getting a Quad Rocket Launcher and a Flamethrower

A host of new Fortnite items and weapons seem to be heading to Battle Royale. Dataminers have uncovered three new weapons, as well as a new item, in the files of Fortnite’s recent 5.3 patch.

We’ll start with the simplest weapon of the bunch, the Suppressed Assault Rifle. This weapon already exists in Fortnite’s Save The World mode, but seems to be heading to Battle Royale at some point in the future. Its description reads that it’s a burst rifle “that allows for precise targeting in mobile mid-range engagements. Deals good damage, but consumes its magazine very quickly.” It’ll be available in Epic and Legendary rarities.

While it seems like it could be a powerful way of getting at your enemies without letting them know where you are, those small magazines will be a good way of keeping it in check. Far more exotic weapons, however, can be found elsewhere, because Fortnite also seems to be getting a Flamethrower and a massive Quad Launcher, as well as a mysterious new throwable item.

Like the Suppressed Assault Rifle, the Quad Launcher already exists in Save the World, so we know what it looks like. Its description reads that is “fires long-range rockets that damage enemies in an area.” I like to assume that Quad refers to an ability to hold a four-rocket magazine, rather than firing all four rockets at once, but to be honest both are scary prospects.

The final datamined weapon is the Flamethrower. We know almost nothing about it at this point, other than that it’s apparently considered an LMG, and that it consumes medium ammo when you fire. That might sound weird, but I don’t think it’s too surprising – it’s likely easier to make it use a form of ammo already in the game than create ‘fuel’ specifically for one weapon.

On top of all that, there’s a new item, the Shockwave Grenade. That’s reportedly a legendary variant of the Impulse Grenade, which presumably means it provides a bigger blast to get you in or out of trouble.

You can check out all of the new items via Fortnite Intel. As for when (or if) these items might come out, it’s anybody’s guess – I’d assume one before the end of season five, and that the rest will be gradually released throughout season six. You can check out the Fortnite week 7 challenges while you wait, however, to give you something to do while you wait for this exotic collection of new weapons.
