Goliath’s Official WrestleMania 33 Preview and Predictions

It is the most exciting time of the year for wrestling fans. WrestleMania typically marks the “season finale” for the year that was in WWE. There are always many twists and turns on the road to WrestleMania and this year is no different. Friendships tossed aside, disrespect for authority, injuries, title changes, and so much more has made up this crazy journey, and it is all about to come to an end.

Here is the official Goliath preview and predictions for WrestleMania 33.

Seth Rollins vs. Triple H

We have been waiting for this payoff since the very end of August. It took months before there was even mention by Seth that he wanted to get at HHH. When it finally happened it was obvious that their match up would take place at WrestleMania.

When Samoa Joe put the beat down on Seth the day after the Royal Rumble, there were legitimate concerns that Rollins was going to miss his second consecutive WrestleMania due to injury. There were rumblings that it may be a work, but Seth himself tweeted that it was real and he was off TV for almost 6 weeks before making an appearance. When he finally did show up unexpectedly, he received another beating, this time from HHH and the metal crutch that got him down to the ring.

It is great that they have been able to work the injury into the story with this non sanctioned stipulation, but make no mistake, if Seth was not cleared for action, he would not be wrestling.

We are all very excited that this match is actually going to happen but it is unfortunate that we didn’t get the nine weeks of build up between these two.

It is safe to say that there will be some interference. Samoa Joe has nothing to do this weekend so you can expect to see him at some point during this match. All signs are pointing to Finn Balor making his return very VERY soon, so it is possible that Finn make his presence known and comes to the aid of Rollins.

With Rollins missing last year and almost missing this year, with HHH being a part timer at best, expect the WWE to do Seth a solid and pick up the victory in what will likely be a grueling match.

Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton

Lets start off with a strange one. Does anyone remember how these guys got to this point? Does it even matter?

Going all the way back to the fall of 2016 these two were not only bumping heads, but playing mind games with each other. Eventually Randy was finding that he just couldn’t win, and “if you can’t beat them, join them”.

Now here we are, WrestleMania 33, and we find out (as most of us were expecting) that Randy was just trying to destroy Bray from the inside and burn everything he loves to the ground. Not only did he succeed in breaking up the Wyatt Family, he literally did burn Bray’s compound to the ground, including Sister Abigail’s Remains.

All of this begs the question, who is the heel in this confusing story? Is it the guy that was finally seeing success as the new WWE champion, or is it the guy that burned down a building and the remains of a dead body with it? This seems like it should be an easy answer, however it now seems like Bray is stronger than every before after baptising himself in Sister Abigail’s ashes. Randy seems lost again and doesn’t know what else to do to defeat Bray.

Randy does everything he can in the match to defeat Bray Wyatt, however we will see Bray summon the power of Sister Abigail and score the victory.

Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar

This is a no brainer. When it comes to part time guys holding belts, it becomes fairly easy to predict the outcome of their title reign.

These two have been going at each other for quite a while now. The pay off should have been at Survivor Series with a one and done match. Goldberg could have been sent off into the sunset with his family and a 1-1 record against The Beast Incarnate. Clearly, we were all swerved on this because NO ONE saw the squash on Brock Lesnar coming. It wasn’t a bad thing, and its been fun having Goldberg back. Should he be holding the Universal Championship? Maybe not, but to have this match mean anything at all, there had to be something added, otherwise, why do the same thing over again.

Full disclosure, anything can happen. Maybe both guys are signed on longer than anyone truly knows and the result won’t be as predictable. That being said, this is an easy choice. Brock will be one of the only wrestlers to ever kick out of the Jackhammer, likely within the first two minutes to fake another squash match and go on to win the Universal Championship. While I don’t expect this to be a five minute match, I can’t see it going over ten minutes for the simple fact that Goldberg, no matter how great he looks, won’t be able to go that long.

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns

The Undertaker is on the verge of a milestone which makes this prediction more difficult than first thought.

It would be easy to have Taker  come up with the victory at WrestleMania 33 to continue his incredible legacy. However, with the loss to Brock at WM30, isn’t that legacy already somewhat tarnished? Would losing another WrestleMania match really matter?

This has a “passing of the guard” feel to it, or in this case “passing of the yard”. While Taker is beloved, and having him win would sure get a great reaction from the crowd and from the fans at home, does anyone actually believe that Taker could beat the Big Dog, Roman Reigns? There has been some real excitement seeing The Deadman week to week on RAW, but seeing him week to week has reminded us all that this really could be it. The quick sit up isn’t as sharp as it used to be, it actually looks hard for him to get up after taking a bump, and all in all, he is just not quick enough to be in there and put on a great match.

HOPEFULLY the WWE does this right and has Roman go full heel after beating a major fan favourite on the grandest stage of them all.

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse

At first glance, this match up is a “WTF” type of match up.

How on earth could John Cena, arguably the biggest name in WWE history, be in a mix tag with his real life girlfriend against The Miz and Maryse. When was the last time Maryse even wrestled? She is a former champion, but she hasn’t been in the ring in quite some time.

Rumours are swirling that this is Nikki’s last match for quite a while, possibly ever. Her neck, although heeled and cleared to wrestle, is still an obvious point of concern. Looking at that alone, its easy to think that this is Cena doing a big favour for Nikki and helping her go out in style. Cena also is rumoured to be taking a break from the WWE which would likely give him time to film his next movie.

Miz and Maryse have HAMMERED home that they believe Nikki and John are a fake couple and are only in it for the fame and money. This is insulting to them because they are real and they are the “it” couple in WWE.  They capped this off with an incredible parody of Total Bellas that may be the best thing the WWE writers have done in a long time. They have put credibility and intrigue into this feud and made it must watch TV.

Nikki will get the send off she deserves. The Miz and Cena will do the brunt of the work but ultimately Nikki will get the pin on Maryse for the victory.

P.S. An added prediction: John Cena gets down on one knee after the victory and proposes to Nikki in front of the sold out crowd at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.

Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles

If a McMahon needs to have a match at WrestleMania, it makes sense that it is Shane. He is a little crazy and will put his body on the line for the brand and for the fans. All you have to do is look at last years leap off the Cell.

Shane is less than a part timer in the ring though, so if he has to be there, they couldn’t have picked anyone better that AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One is arguably the best professional wrestler in the world. Not WWE, but the entire world. This will be one heck of a match and we can only imagine the things they might do.

At first, the thought of this match up was less then exciting. It felt like a big waste of the talent that is AJ Styles. Boy, were we wrong. After the best backstage beat down we have seen since the Attitude era, and the way Shane attacked AJ on Smackdown, We care.  The Shane surprise attack concluded with an bang when he landed an incredible flying elbow from the top rope on to AJ who was struggling to get to his feet on the announcers desk.

It seems incredibly silly to hear the announcers and Daniel Bryan tell AJ that he doesn’t know what he has got himself into after everything Styles has gone through since losing his title to Cena at the Royal Rumble. If anything Shane is the one in trouble, why anyone would think AJ should be afraid of Shane is beyond comprehension. It should be the other way around.

AJ and Shane have a crazy spot filled match but ultimately AJ comes out on top and defeats the SmackDown Live Commissioner.

Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax

This seemed to be the only way to get all of the RAW Women into the show. We’re not complaining because this has all the makings of a great match.

The push that Nia Jax has received is a bit shocking, however it is also believable. She is big and she is strong. The way she has been able to toss Bayley and Sasha around the last few weeks (minus a sneaky roll up loss to Sasha) has put her into the spotlight. It would be very unfortunate for Nia to get this push, be this dominant, and then eat the first pin and be eliminated.

They have really focused on how close Sasha and Bayley are as friends and that of course means that will not last much longer. It is too soon to have Bayley turn heel and therefore we must assume it will be Sasha that makes the turn. The best way to do that is to have Bayley pin Sasha and eliminate her first.

With Sasha gone, you can expect a bit of a gang up on Bayley by Charlotte and Nia before the tide eventually turns. Charlotte will realize she needs Bayley in order to eliminate Nia and that she can’t do it alone. Nia will be eliminated, likely by a double pin by Charlotte and Bayley.

Charlotte has put a lot of effort into making Bayley out to be a “paper champion” as it was Sasha that helped Bayley win the title in the first place. That should end as Bayley will get the clean, unassisted pin to take the victory.

Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens

This may be the match that everyone is most excited about. The story that has led up to this match has been long and it has been fantastic… Oh yeah, it is also for the United States Championship.

It is not very often that a story completely outshines the belt that is on the line. Yes, it is only the U.S. title, but it is still a belt none the less. Jericho and Owens have done an incredible job telling this story. The friendship itself was always hit and never miss. We knew the turn would come, but the way it happened during the festival of friendship shocked everyone and turned out to be one of the greatest turns in WWE history.

Since then we met the “REAL” Kevin Owens and there couldn’t have been a better picture to mark out to than KO wearing a Y2J shirt, doing the arms out, fist clenched stance that Jericho made famous. It takes you back to your childhood, probably owning the same Y2J shirt. Now Kevin Owens gets to face an actual hero of his at WrestleMania. It doesn’t really get any better than that.

Unfortunately we know that Jericho is going on tour with Fozzy soon which means that he will be taking some time away. Very rarely do superstars take a leave from the WWE and do so as a champion. This match could very easily be Match of the Night, but Kevin Owens will come out on top.

Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin

The build up for this match started back at SmackDown’s last exclusive PPV, the Elimination Chamber. you wouldn’t think that was a long time for a proper build up, however that was two months ago.

Dean Ambrose and Baron Corbin have been back and forth, but mostly it has been Corbin laying the beat down on Ambrose each week. The odd thing is that each one of these confrontations has happened everywhere except for in the ring. The reason I say that is odd is because the match seems to be just a regular one on one with no stipulations.

Would this not be the perfect time for a street fight? A no DQ? An I quit match? It is odd that it is just a straight up one-on-one wrestling match. It seemed logical for the WWE to give Ambrose the match he was hoping to have with Lesnar last year.

Corbin has received a decent push and being on SmackDown has been great for him. On many occasions he has looked strong and they have protected him. For those reasons, expect Corbin to go over with a victory and beat Dean Ambrose at WrestleMania 33.

Champion Alexa Bliss to defend against all female SmackDown LIVE Superstars who are available to compete

Like the Raw Women’s match, this is the best way to get everyone involved. There has been very little build up for this, but as there has been no real story for the championship after Alexa won it back, this was the only thing that made sense.

We saw a friendship split between Mickie James and Alexa bliss, but that has pretty well been the only thing of importance to really take place. We have seen the girls get together and brawl but there is nothing really pointing to how this match will go and where the belt will end up once the match is over.

The WWE has been very persistent in stating that Alexa will defend against “all women who are available to compete”. This is a clear sign that there will be some sort of surprise addition.  The obvious choice here would be Naomi. There has been very little reported on her status but it is her home town, and a surprise addition would be pretty special for her and her family.

The other option here, is Asuka. There has been no indication on SmackDown Live that the NXT Women’s Champion would even be considered. However, it has been a couple months now that she has been on the road with the SmackDown roster doing house shows. This of course doesn’t mean she will be at WrestleMania, but they certainly aren’t hiding the fact that she could be on her way VERY soon, so why not?

This is a hard one to predict, so lets go out on a limb here. Naomi is in fact a surprise entrant and the WWE goes back to the program they started at Elimination Chamber with Naomi victorious and laying the pin on anyone else other than Alexa.

Neville vs. Austin Aries

It is extremely unfortunate that this will be on the Kick Off show. Typically the cruiserweight matches are more of a “bathroom break” part of the show however, the last few weeks the cruiserweights have put on some incredible matches both on RAW and 205Live

Neville has been a major bright spot for a division that seemed like it was going to fail. He really has brought it back to life, but he didn’t do it alone. With great matches against Rich Swan, Mustafa Ali and of course the Fastlane show stealer against Jack Gallagher, there was some real excitement for this WrestleMania match against Austin Aries.

Aries made a triumphant return on RAW when he clocked Neville with the microphone while trying to conduct an interview with him. Since then the two have been jawing back and forth at each other, all while having terrific matches separately. The prediction was going to be that these two would once again have the cruiserweights steal the show at WrestleMania by having the best wrestling match. The crowd would have started quiet, but by the end they would have been on there feet biting at every false finish. With this match on the kick off show now, very few people will witness it live.

A Double and Neville will have a phenomenal match. It may not get the recognition it will deserve but it will still be a must watch. In order to keep the story going and keep the momentum with the cruiserweights going, expect Neville to retain, but don’t expect Austin Aries to go away quietly following WrestleMania 33.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore & Big Cass vs. Cesaro & Sheamus

If there has ever been a division that needs a major overhaul, this may be it. Not just the RAW show, but both shows. The SmackDown belts aren’t even on the card at all.

The time is now to put the belts on Enzo and Cass. They need to do something big to put a spotlight back on these divisions. It can’t JUST be by calling up the Revival and DIY after WrestleMania (if that were to even happen).

The way this story has unfolded is a cluster of nonsense. These three teams have been fighting each other ever since Cesaro and Sheamus beat The New Day back in December at Roadblock: End of the Line. Gallows and Anderson are much better than they have been used and it is a shame that this title run has been tainted by a lack of talent in the division and some very poor writing.

This is it for Enzo and Cass. They will revive this division going forward by winning at WrestleMania 33.

The Fourth Annual Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal

These are usually the hardest to predict, especially because you don’t really know who is actually in it. We do however know a few names. Those being Mojo Rawley, Apollo Crews, Curt Hawkins, Sami Zayn, Braun Strowman and the Big Show.

Of course the ring will be full and we will probably see a surprise or two. Last year we saw Tatanka and Shaq, so it is exciting to think we could see something totally unexpected.

That being said, this year should be fairly easy to predict. Braun Strowman and The Big Show will run through the Battle Royal and be the last two standing. We have already seen these two face off however with the match against Shaq cancelled, The Big Show needed something to do. Their first match was fantastic and while they will both be fairly tired by the end, we can expect them to put on a decent show before Braun sends The Big Show over the top ropes for the victory.
