Hideo Kojima Refers To His Video Games As Critical Film Hits

Hideo Kojima is a well-known video game developer as he’s created several hit releases over the years. Known mostly for his work with Konami that ended up with the split along with the cancellation of Silent Hills, Kojima is working on his IP. Kojima Productions is the name of Hideo Kojima’s development studio and at the moment, the team is working on the upcoming launch of Death Stranding. This will be the studio’s debut title and while the trailers and snippets of information released have been a bit cryptic, gamers are eagerly awaiting to get their hands on a copy.

Recently, Hideo Kojima was at SDCC where he got a chance to answer some questions. It’s during this conversation that he alerts attendees that he’s not interested in making something similar to what is already out there in the market. Using the example of Fortnite, he made note that he doesn’t want to toss out another game where you’re stuck on an island and must shoot each other. According to the famed developer, that area of developing games right now is easy money.

Instead, the developer is looking to make something that gives inspiration to the world. He goes on to refer his upcoming video game with critical hit films like Space Odyssey and Bladerunner, which both had criticism and praise. He hopes that when Death Stranding does release, it’s not only a beloved hit but something that gamers will look back on years later.

Currently, Death Stranding is aiming for a release on November 8, 2019, which it will be an exclusive video game title for the PlayStation 4.
