Loot Gaming is a monthly subscription box from Loot Crate featuring collectibles, apparel, accessories and more from the biggest and best video game universes. Each box will have $60 in items, plus a booklet/mini-mag and pin.
If you flip the box inside out it looks like an old school arcade game! Futureriffic!
The Loot Gaming box for March 2017 had a FUTURE TECH theme.
This month’s poster is beautiful artwork without being a specific franchise.
This month’s Crate features items from Overwatch, Mass Effect: Andromeda, Prey, and Tron!
Future Tech Coin Pin: The highly detailed coin pins are fun – this one has a pewter colored finish and features a zap-o-matic ray gun. This goes really nicely with the box design – visions of future tech! The information poster noted that the first instance of the term “ray gun” was in 1898 – Well’s War of the Worlds!
Overwatch Tracer Cute But Deadly Figure: This Tracer figure is exclusive to the box (like everything else this month!).
The Cavalry’s here! The box artwork is fantastic!
You have to insert her teeny tiny feet into the stand but it’s worth it – she’s full of excellent detailing.
And the blue bolt is just like her Blink ability!
Plus she has on her awesome ear cuffs!
Mass Effect: Andromeda LED Lamp
This LED lamp is super similar to one we received in a Loot Anime box – except this one has just one color. It comes with a USB plug and you peel protective coating off the acrylic plate, which you insert into the base, tapping the button gently to turn off and on.
Loot Crate notes that it teamed up with Bioware to make this Pathfinder lamp that “looks like it came right out of the Mass Effect Universe.” I think it’s neat to hear what items Loot Crate considers as universe-like. My idea is probably a bit different, but I think this lamp is great. Speaking of universe, Mass Effect: Andromeda eyes are now 50% less terrifying!
The glow on the lamp is awesome and I think it’s a really awesome home accessory, especially since it features a Pathfinder!
Prey Gaming Mat: Prey is yet to be released! This gaming mat has a nice fabric top and foamy center with a grippy bottom. I like both the fancy slidy gaming pads and this kind, so I was happy with it and all my mouse pads are ready for replacement – they get grimy!
This concept art is really cool. Are you going to be playing?
In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities.
It’s a FPS with role-playing bits and bobs.
Tron T-Shirt: RAD! Tron of course was a totally groundbreaking movie and this shirt pays homage to the film’s poster in a bit of an updated style (only a bit).
The light cycles are a cool touch! This is a great item for this piece of future tech history (which is also squarely within the dystopian technological future vein of popular franchises).
In case you didn’t know – Tron is old! Let’s not talk about that weirdness with Jeff Bridges in Tron:Legacy. Why didn’t the original win Special Effects that year? That honor went to Return of the Jedi. It was a golden age!
I really liked the mix of new and vintage franchises in the box – I thought it was even a little cheeky to mix up current thoughts about future technology with what we thought the future might look like 35 years ago.
