Bethesda has opened the window to a vibrant new chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online universe. In The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset, the island home of the High Elves lowers its defences to allow foreigners like us entry for the first time since 1994’s The Elder Scrolls: Arena. But Queen Ayrenn’s cordial invitation is marred by a shadowy secret: Tamriel is under threat and needs your assistance to dismantle a Daedric plot. Summerset continues a legacy of award-winning storytelling by catering to both casuals and veterans. Previous ESO experience isn’t a prerequisite, and Summerset offers a quick tutorial to get you up to speed. Long time players can pick a fresh warrior, or bring existing characters into Summerset for a truly expansive adventure which eclipses even The Elder Scrolls Online: Morrowind‘s Vvardenfell in size.
Summerset also ushers in The Psijic Order, a mysterious faction that is now playable and introduces a skill line which lets you unlock time manipulation skills. For those fond of teamwork, there are novel group PvE challenges to be found in Cloudrest and the Abyssal Geyers, additional delves and bosses, public dungeons, plus a new 12 player trial. Furthermore, ESO‘s crafting skill line expands with jewellery creation, an ability that enables you to bulk up your character with powerful, shiny new gear. Who said you couldn’t look good and kick ass?
MMORPG-curious? You can try out The Elder Scrolls Online for free until March 27. Play here. Summerset will be launching for PC and Mac on May 21, with Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions following closely on June 5.
Pre-orders for The Elder Scrolls Online: Summerset are now live. The minimum pledge for a standard digital edition will set you back $40 USD ($30 USD if you already own ESO). Purchasing before the official release gives you immediate access to the full game, as well as the Queen’s Bounty Pack which contains a pocket salamander pet, treasure maps, experience scrolls, a Psijic vault crown crate, and an exclusive Court of Bedlam costume.
