Exploring the Old West in Red Dead Redemption 2 is going to be an epic affair, as a new report says the game’s story will take roughly 60 hours to complete.
Buried in Vulture’s in-depth piece on the game titled “How the West Was Digitized: The Making of Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2,” lead writer and Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser reveals that five hours of content was recently cut from the “65-hour game”, which means that the campaign now clocks in around the 60 hour mark.
According to Houser, the dropped content included a second romantic plot for protagonist Arthur Morgan, who will have a love interest over the course of the game. “We decided one of them didn’t work,” Houser explained.
Houser also revealed that Red Dead Redemption 3 will only be considered “if this one does well enough and we think we have other interesting things to say.”
Vulture’s extensive interview is well worth a read and serves as a good primer for Red Dead Redemption 2’s release on October 26 (we can’t believe it’s less than two weeks away!)
