Rare Games’ pirate-themed online multiplayer title, Sea of Thieves, receives constant and regular content updates, patches and the most recent Cursed Sails update. It added permanent and time-limited content to the game, all following the update’s skeleton theme, including new Brigantine ship, as well as new weapons, new legendary ship cosmetics, new clothes and much more.
All this and several other factors helped Rare and Mircrosoft’s title to reach a playerbase of five million players as of July 31st. Rare’s Executive Producer Joe Neate thanked the game’s fans for their continuous support and promised much more to come for the studio’s development team. He mentioned several other interesting statistics, including “300M views on YouTube and more than 40M live broadcast hours on Twitch.”
Being able to share that we’ve welcomed more than five million players to Sea of Thieves since launch is both inspiring and humbling. Home to players from all over the world, the thriving Sea of Thieves community includes an army of content creators who have helped the game rack up 300M views on YouTube and more than 40M live broadcast hours on Twitch. Seeing our creative community embrace the possibilities that Sea of Thieves presents is an inspiration to everyone at the studio, and on behalf of us all at Rare, I’d like to thank everyone who’s been a part of this amazing adventure.
Sea of Thieves: Cursed Sails update is currently available on PC and Xbox One.
