Final Fantasy VII Remake is a timed PlayStation 4 exclusive. Box art confirmed the ‘timed’ part last year, as a little label noted that you can “play first on PS4,” and that it was a “timed exclusive” until March 3, 2021 – exactly one year after its planned release date. If you had any hope that the period would be reduced by virtue of FF7’s delay, Square Enix officially crushed that dream today.

Square Enix has just dropped a meaty new trailer for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Clocking in at almost four minutes, it features a new and very chilled song by the original game’s (brilliant) composer Nobuo Uematsu, and gives the remake’s take on a couple of iconic moments from the game. Perhaps most notably, these include the moment Cloud dresses as a woman to gain the confidence of crime lord Don Corneo.
It looks like fans excited to play the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have to wait a while longer to jump into the nostalgia-filled adventure – it’s been delayed. While developer Square Enix hasn’t confirmed there will be a FF7 PC port, it has revealed that the game’s PlayStation 4 release date (March 3) has now been pushed back to April 10.
It’s now open season on Final Fantasy 7 Remake leaks, as dataminers have gotten hold of an early PSN demo. It’s filled with a lot of info on the full game – and potentially its sequels – so the months are about to get a lot longer if you’re trying to avoid any early looks at what’s changing in the remake. But we’re not here to spoil – the leaks also hint at a PC port for the upcoming game.
