Paige hasn’t been seen on WWE television for over a year now, with a major neck injury and multiple wellness policy infractions keeping her either on the shelf or suspended (or both).
The former NXT and Divas Champion finally returned on Monday night on the Raw after Survivor Series. She didn’t show her face when the various female members of the roster tried to make their case to be the next contender for Alexa Bliss’ Women’s Championship, so GM Kurt Angle made a Fatal-4-Way match to determine the No. 1 contender, including Bayley, Sasha Banks, Mickie James, and Alicia Fox.
In the middle of the match, Paige’s music hit and she interrupted the festivities. It quickly became apparent that she didn’t come alone either, as NXT’s Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville hit the ring to lay everyone out.
It looks like the Raw women’s division has some new impact players. And technically, the match ended in a no-contest, which means there still isn’t a No. 1 contender for Bliss’ title. Although maybe the WWE wants to push Paige right into that spot, since she would later attack Bliss backstage after an interview with Renee Young.
Hopefully Paige can get her career back on track after a few rough moments. In addition to the neck injury and the wellness policy infractions, she’s had a somewhat tumultuous personal relationship with former WWE champ Albert Del Rio and been the subject of embarrassing photo leaks. A push into title contention could be the motivation she needs to rise to new heights.
