10 new video games coming in 2024

New games coming out in 2024 should offer something for everyone! If you want to jump into a dynamic Persian adventure, exchange blows with the strongest fighters on Earth, dive into the modernized version of the classic JRPG, and embark on many other exciting journeys, read on! These are our most-anticipated 2024 game releases!

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown  – January 18th

We’ll kick the list off with a dynamic 2.5D action-adventure title that may make the hearts of the series’ long-time enthusiasts beat faster. With PoP: The Lost Crown, Ubisoft returns to the roots by switching from a third-person view, known from the more modern installments in the franchise, to a side-scrolling perspective.

The title offers beautiful graphics and crisp gameplay, and while you won’t be playing as the eponymous prince, it still looks rather promising. It’s been a long time since the last Prince of Persia title, so fans should certainly mark The Lost Crown as one of the most anticipated games in 2024.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth – January 26th

Can you name all the installments in the Yakuza franchise without looking them up? It’s a tall order since there are so many of them! Recently, we celebrated the release of Like a Dragon Gaiden, but all fans know that this was only an entrée served before the main course, Infinite Wealth.

This time, we’ll be able to take a trip to Hawaii with our favorite heroes, Kiryu and Ichiban. We can expect the return of the new combat mechanics introduced in Yakuza 7, as well as the series’ classic wacky sub-stories and gripping main plot. If you’re a fan of the franchise, 26.01 should certainly be high on your list of the most-anticipated video game release dates in 2024. If you can’t wait to check it out, completing Gaiden will grant you access to Infinite Wealth’s short demo!

If you’re new to the series, feel free to take a look at our ranking of the best Yakuza games. Maybe it’ll encourage you to give the franchise a try?

Tekken 8 – January 26th

January 26 shapes up to be a true slugfest, with the simultaneous release of a new Yakuza game and Tekken 8! After 2023’s launches of Street Fighter 6 and Mortal Kombat 1, here comes the new challenger. Well, more like a seasoned veteran, since the franchise will soon celebrate its 30th anniversary.

The eighth installment will certainly be one of the most-played fighting games in 2024, and there are a few good reasons for that. The title will offer beautiful visuals, an upgraded combat system, and a starting roster of 32 playable characters. A new mode, called Arcade Quest, was also announced for all enthusiasts of the single-player experience. If you’re looking for intense battles, you should have a bloody good time with Tekken 8.

Helldivers 2  – February 8th

We have great news for all fans of co-op shooters! Very soon, you’ll be able to enjoy a continuation of the acclaimed Helldivers. Prepare for a surprise, though, since the sequel will offer a completely new perspective. While the first installment was a top-down shooter, Helldivers 2 shakes things up by having you play in the third-person view.

What won’t change, however, is the dynamic, exciting combat, which can be enjoyed in a four-person co-op. It may well be one of the most intense new video games on the market, so fans of fast-paced action should definitely prepare for brutal gun battles against dangerous aliens.

Persona 3 Reload – February 2nd (Coming to Game Pass)

Atlus is on fire! Just a few months after the release of a well-reviewed Persona 5 Tactica, they’ll launch another entry in this beloved JRPG franchise. This time, it will be a remake of the classic P3, which originally launched in 2006. This one is certainly among the hottest 2024 game releases, and it will be available on Game Pass from day one!

Persona 3 Reload will offer a long, engaging story and improved turn-based combat. You’ll also deepen your bonds with the members of your party and other quirky characters. All of this comes with updated visuals, a cool-looking interface, and new voice lines. If you’re eager to play a similar title right now, we’ve got an article about the best turn-based RPGs for fans of Persona.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League February 2nd

Rocksteady Studios, known for their fantastic Batman Arkham series, returns with another title set in DC’s universe. If you admire superheroes (or villains), this might be one of the coolest upcoming games for you. You’ll be able to play as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, and King Shark, so if these criminals are among your favorites, you’ll be in for a treat.

The game’s story focuses on the eponymous group’s attempts to get rid of the Justice League. It’s set in the iconic city of Metropolis, which you’ll be able to explore freely. If that’s not enough to convince you that Suicide Squad is one of the most interesting new games coming out in 2024, the title can be played in co-op with up to four players.

Hades II – Early Access in Q2 2024

Our list of the most exciting upcoming games of 2024 would certainly feel incomplete without Hades II. Supergiant Games has announced that the sequel to their overwhelmingly popular roguelike will enter Early Access in spring 2024. As many players loved the original underworldly adventure, this shapes up to be one of the hottest releases of next year.

In the continuation, you’ll play as Melinoe, the sister of the first game’s protagonist, Zagreus. The developers promise to improve the gameplay and deliver a more extensive experience focused on witchcraft and dark magic. They’ve also announced new characters to bond with, so keep a close eye on the schedule of video game release dates in 2024 so you won’t miss any news about Hades’s 2 release.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II – TBA

Ninja Theory has kept us waiting. The critically acclaimed Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was released in 2017, and the sequel is still looming on the horizon without a clearly stated launch date. It is, however, supposed to be released sometime next year, and we’re eagerly awaiting it since it’s likely to be one of the best new games coming out in 2024.

Why should you wait for it? The first installment in the saga told a beautifully written, brutal story of madness and inner struggle set in a fantastically crafted world. The sequel is expected to follow suit, this time with next-gen visuals. Like many other upcoming games, Hellblade II will be available on Game Pass on its launch.

Avowed – TBA

This is yet another of numerous examples of new video games that were announced quite a while ago, and their release date is still set at “to be determined”. We know that Avowed is expected to be released in 2024, but we don’t know when exactly it’ll happen. It’s okay, though; the developers will certainly use that time to polish this fantasy RPG as much as possible. Besides, as proved by this list, we shouldn’t complain about the shortage of games in 2024.

Avowed is being developed by the veterans at Obsidian Entertainment, creators of multiple great RPG games, such as Pillars of Eternity, The Outer Worlds, or Fallout: New Vegas. That’s probably enough to convince many players to check out this title, but we’re also looking forward to dive deep into Avowed’s fun-looking combat system. And yes, this will be yet another XGP day-one release!

Star Wars Outlaws  – TBDA

EA’s rule over the galaxy is over! While the company is still expected to deliver new Star Wars games, it no longer has exclusive rights to do so. Now’s Ubisoft’s time to shine. In Star Wars Outlaws, you’ll land on iconic planets and fight against the Empire. We’re not likely to use lightsabers here, but we can expect intense gunfights and spaceship battles.

Much like many other Ubisoft titles, this will be an open-world game that relies heavily on exploration. Since the Star Wars universe is packed with alien planets and iconic locations, we can expect a big galaxy map full of activities.
