Letter Rooms indie dev Klemens Strasser has just announced a new game titled Ancient Board Game Collection, and it’s now available for pre-order on the iOS App Store. Here, players can rediscover games played thousands of years ago during ancient times, now updated for the mobile age.
In Ancient Board Game Collection, players can experience ancient delights such as Hnefatafl from Vikings or Latrunculi from Ancient Rome. “Every game has been designed by a designer from the country of the games origin and its design is based on art from that country. So for example Hnefatafl has been designed by Albina Lind from Sweden and is based on Viking Rune Stones. Or Bagh-Chal has been designed by Pranuj Shreshtha from Nepal and is based on art from Buddhist temples,” says Klemens Strasser.
Ancient Board Game Collection also features local and online multiplayer modes, along with VoiceOver and Voice Control accessibility options. There are nine different games to play around with, which includes Konane, Hnefatafl, Nine Men’s Morris, Dablot Prejjesne, Gomoku, Halatafl, Latrunculi, Five Field Kono and Bagh-Chal.
There’s no official word on the exact release date at the moment (it’s some time around May this year), but if you’re curious about the game, Ancient Board Game Collection is now available to pre-order on the iOS App Store. It’s a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
