Playful Fox Games has announced the official launch of Animal Bar: Stockroom Scramble, its retro-style arcade game that spins off from the indie developer’s upcoming Animal Bar. Now available on both iOS and Android devices, the charming title emulates the feel of handheld games from the ’80s, with an exciting unboxing experience players can enjoy along with pack-in sales pamphlets for that authentic handheld feel (but on mobile!).
Animal Bar: Stockroom Scramble lets players dive into their beverage bar’s stockroom from Animal Bar to create a different kind of micromanagement experience. Players can sort boxes, prep shipments and more via a Game A and Game B mechanic, where challenges await would-be stockroom managers with a combo meter and a limited number of lives. Players can choose from Classic, Arcade and Hardcore to see if they’ve got what it takes to keep their stockroom as spick and span as possible.
“Like a hardware manufacturer would, our team did research on multiple LCD handhelds such as the famous Nintendo Game & Watch games, the Mattel Electronics games, the later Tiger Electronics games, and various clone handhelds from the 80s and early 90s. Once we had a good idea of the common features and quirks of these devices, we imagined how one might look if it were made to fit neatly onto a phone screen,” says Ryan Dunnison, the founder of Playful Fox Games.
If you’re keen on experiencing the add-in pamphlet for upgrades on your “handheld” – as well as feeling nostalgic with the clock mode and the black and white manual – you can download Animal Bar: Stockroom Scramble on the iOS App Store and on the Google Play Store today.
