Drag x Drive Beats Welcome Tour’s Lowly Switch 2 Review Scores, But Only Just

Reviews for Drag x Drive have just dropped, and it looks like another surprising swing and a miss for the Switch 2’s launch window library.

The Switch 2 sure has proven to be a console that giveth and taketh away in equal measure. While it has seen some incredible exclusives like Donkey Kong Bananza and Mario Kart World (well, before that controversial update anyway), it’s also had its fair share of big and surprising misses.

The clearest example of that so far has been Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour, which generated a ton of controversy when it was revealed as a paid title instead of the obvious pack-in it should have been. That led to some pretty poor reviews and a Metacritic score of 54, making it one of the worst-reviewed games of 2025. It’s now got some close competition, though.

Drag x Drive Is Now The Switch 2’s Second-Worst Reviewed Exclusive

At Least We Didn’t Expect Much From Welcome Tour

During Nintendo’s reveal of the Switch 2 earlier this year, one of the most interesting titles revealed was Drag x Drive, an online basketball game where you use your Joy-Cons to move a wheelchair around and dunk. Despite how cool it looked, it seems that Drag x Drive isn’t quite the standout showcase of the Joy-Cons like Nintendo hoped.

Earlier today, reviews for Drag x Drive went live, revealing some pretty mixed responses to the game as a whole. While most critics like the core gameplay well enough, it seems that there’s just not enough to do beyond playing matches to make it stand out, which is reflected in its overall Metacritic and OpenCritic score.

As of the time of writing, Drag x Drive currently has a Metacritic score of 60, putting it just six points ahead of Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour. OpenCritic has Drag x Drive slightly lower at a score of 58, which is actually lower than Welcome Tour’s score of 61 on the site.

Even with that slight disparity between OpenCritic and Metacritic, it’s clear that Drag x Drive hasn’t really lived up to expectations as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, despite its unique premise. Here’s hoping that the next exclusives we get from Nintendo are closer to Bananza and Mario Kart than Welcome Tour and Drag.
