Every New Game Added To PlayStation Plus In March 2024

PlayStation Plus used to be a subscription service that got you a few free games every month and access to other titles’ online features. Needing to come up with something that looked a little more like Xbox Game Pass, PlayStation shook things up in 2022 and introduced a tiered PS Plus system. Now there are three options to choose from: Essential, Extra, and Premium. Each tier costs more than the last, but paying more will get you access to more features and a bigger library of games.

A Guide To Every Free Game Available Right Now

From traditional console subscriptions to mobile offerings and PC services, here’s every free video game. Because free is good.

Essential is the same as the old PS Plus. The cheapest option which lets you play online and gets you a handful of free games every month. Extra gets you quite a lot more, opening up a library of PS4 and PS5 games you can download and play for the price of your subscription. Last but not least is Premium which includes everything you get with Extra plus access to PlayStation’s classics library as well as demos for various new games. Fresh games are added to each tier every month, and below you’ll find what you’ll get throughout March, regardless of the tier you’re subscribed to, as well as links to where you can upgrade your subscription or sign up if you don’t currently have PS Plus.

The cheapest tier of PS Plus is Essential which is essentially what Plus was before its overhaul in 2022. The tier you need to play most games online, and also the one that gets you a handful of free games every month. Not just games you can play for a month that are then replaced by others four weeks later, but games you can download and keep for as long as you have a PS Plus subscription. If your subscription lapses, the games you downloaded for free will be waiting for you when you resubscribe.

April’s Essential picks are headlined by a very big title – Immortals of Aveum. Launching during the summer of 2023, the fantasy game in which you fire off magic from a first-person perspective was somewhat overshadowed by the likes of Baldur’s Gate 3 and Armored Core 6. EA will hope giving the game away for free through PS Plus will get people playing and make people realize what they were missing.

Minecraft Legends will also arrive on Essential alongside Immortals Of Aveum. A spin-off of the best-selling game of all time, Minecraft Legends takes you out of the sprawling sandbox and stands you shoulder-to-shoulder with your friends as you battle other groups to defend your village. Skul: The Hero Slayer rounds out April’s Essential offerings. The least known of the three games, but not one you should let pass you by if roguelikes are your thing.

As if all of that wasn’t already enough, PS Plus subscribers can also get an exclusive Overwatch 2 bundle this month. The Mega Bundle includes the Legendary Beekeeper Sigma, Legendary Art Deco Symmetra, seven epic skins, and five battle pass tier skips

Pay a little extra, get a little extra. Well, actually, get quite a lot extra. PS Plus Extra’s catalog of PS4 and PS5 games available to download and play to all subscribers of the service’s middle tier grows every month. Unlike the Essential offerings, you don’t have just a month to download and play these games for free. However, once they leave PS Plus, they will also leave your library.

Which games will be joining PS Plus’s Extra library in April haven’t been revealed yet, giving you time to catch up on March’s arrivals if you haven’t already. March’s games include something for just about everyone. NBA 2K24 is the headliner, arriving on the service to get people interested before the release of NBA 2K25, but if you ask me, it’s not the game Extra subscribers should be flocking to right now. That honor goes to Marvel’s Midnight Suns. Much like Guardians of the Galaxy, which is also still available on PS Plus Extra, Midnight Suns was a criminally underrated superhero game you absolutely have to play if you have Extra.

Also joining Extra’s superhero ranks is Lego DC Supervillains, something far more appropriate for younger gamers. Resident Evil 3’s arrival a month after Resident Evil 2 (the remakes, not the originals) has me hopeful Resident Evil 4 will join them in April, and Dragon Ball Z: Kakrot lets you live out your anime RPG desires. Everything coming to PS Plus Extra and when it will be available to download and play can be found below.

The free games available through PS Plus Essential each month can also be claimed by anyone with Extra or Premium subscriptions.

PS Plus Premium

The additions to the Extra catalog are also additions for PS Plus Premium subscribers, but naturally, since you’re paying more, you get more each month. The biggest selling point of Premium is the inclusion of games from further back than the PS4. Like Extra, the new games coming to Premium in April won’t be revealed until a little later in the month. Below is everything that was added to the highest tier’s library in March.

The March Premium addition that appears to have caused the biggest stir is Jak And Daxter The Lost Frontier, and not necessarily for the right reasons. Fans of the series don’t understand why The Lost Frontier has received the Premium nod ahead of Daxter. Hopefully Daxter will join it in the future, but for now, you’ll simply have to appreciate that there will be more Jak And Daxter of any description to play on current PlayStation consoles.

There’s plenty more for fans of older games unbothered by the Jak And Daxter controversy too. If you’ve been playing the recently released Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy, and enjoying it, you will soon be able to go back and play the Phoenix Wright trilogy on Premium. More good news for anime fans as JoJos Bizarre Adventure AllStar Battle R joins Premium, and sports fans will have Cool Boarders to play from March 19. It’s no SSX Tricky but hey, what is?
