Genshin Impact expands the Fontaine region in upcoming version 4.2 update

HoYoverse kicked off a new storyline in Genshin Impact with the release of version 4.0, which introduced Teyvat’s fifth region, Fontaine. It continued with v4.1 and now the latest update, version 4.2, titled Masquerade of the Guilty is going to raise the stakes. The people of Fontaine are about to face an unprecedented crisis. In addition, new underwater regions become explorable as more heroes join the fray.

The Archon Quest in Genshin Impact’s version 4.2 threatens all of Fontaine. The Primordial Seawater, which has the power to dissolve everything in its path is extremely close and everyone is being called in for support, including the Fatui Harbinger and the Arlecchino. This dangerous tide also carries powerful enemies with it such as the All-Devouring Narwhal, The Foul, and the Hydro Tulpa.

More about the Primordial Sea can be learnt from The Narzissenkreuz Adventure World Quest, which introduces the new playable areas – Erinnyes Forest and Morte Region. The former has been polluted by contaminated bacterial mats that can be cleared using only the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus. There’s also a rumour about Water Imps which Freminet and Thelxie are going to look into.

Two other characters join the roster in this update. The first one is Hydro Archon Furina, a five-star Hydro sword user who can seamlessly switch between two Arkhe alignments. These allow her to change Elemental Skills at will to either attack or heal. Charlotte on the other hand is a reporter who uses her custom Kamera Monsieur Verite in battle. She is a Cryo user who will appear alongside Furina in Event Wishes.

Finally, the update will feature several minigames. Players can upgrade Thelxie, the clockwork penguin, and participate in a new fungi event as well as a special photography event featuring the unique Kamera Gadget and Special Analysis Zoom Lens.

Genshin Impact’s version 4.2 releases on November 8th.
