How to Fix Kingfisher-4 and Nightingale 12-C Errors in Skull and Bones

The Skull and Bones servers are getting slammed since so many pirates are sailing the seas at the same time during the launch window, so there are some issues with the in-game chat. These issues are getting in the way of gameplay, too, since they repeatedly pop up on screen.

You’d typically be able to chat with the entire lobby when playing Skull and Bones with both voice and text chat, but there are two specific errors that are preventing pirates from communicating with one another. Most players are getting disconnected from the Skull and Bones chat with an error called NIGHTINGALE-12C, and then the in-game text chat will continually be spammed with a message that reads “A problem occurred while trying to communicate with a Ubisoft online service. Please try again later. (KINGFISHER-4).”

Unfortunately, there’s no way to fix these errors since the issues are on Ubisoft’s side. In-game chat just isn’t working at the moment and you’ll have to wait until Ubisoft releases a hotfix that addresses the issue before you can send messages to your fellow sailors.

Thankfully, there is a way to disable the annoying KINGFISHER messages and get rid of the pop-ups so you can plunder in peace. Just pause the game, go to the settings menu, and navigate to the Interface tab. From there, scroll down to the Text Chat section and turn off Text Chat entirely. This will clean up your screen and remove the error messages. You won’t be able to see the chat, but since it’s not working anyway, it’s not a huge tradeoff.

The NIGHTINGALE and KINGFISHER errors are known issues for the Skull and Bones developers, so hopefully a fix will be released soon. The game’s servers have been experiencing some issues during the launch window due to the massive influx of players. The waters may be choppy now, but it should be smooth sailing for online multiplayer in Skull and Bones soon since that’s the case with most online games.
