One of the main missions in Act One of Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader sees the Lord Captain visit the orbital station at Eurac V to recruit a new Navigator. An easily-missable (and somewhat confounding) puzzle at the rear of the station lets you tinker with some lab equipment; a questionable prospect at the best of times, doubly so in the Warhammer universe.

The Warhammer 40,000 universe has a lot of dark stories to tell, these books contain some of the best ones.

Using the lab equipment to process the correct reagents, found strewn about the station, yields some handy potions that will give you an edge in the coming quests. They might even be useful in getting off of Eurac V in one piece!

After you board the station and meed Felek Orsellio, you can reach the main area of the station by having a party member make an Athletics check to lift the bookshelf blocking the stairs to the left. You’ll have to fight some Warp-afflicted Mutant Traitors on the other side, but once they’re dispatched you’ll have the run of the station.

After the battle, explore the area and pick up any loot you find. There are items important for the puzzle hidden throughout. If you find yourself missing one, use the Map screen to locate any items you haven’t picked up yet.

Luckily, most of the components you need are in boxes in the lab itself.

The lab is on the opposite side of the main hall from where you entered. Once you’re inside, take a right through the closed door to find the lab equipment for the puzzle. You need to go there anyway to rebuild the station’s control rod.

A golden giant that brought humanity back from the brink here’s what you need to know about The Emperor in Warhammer: 40K.

How To Use The Lab Equipment

The four containers lined up along the right side of the room can each hold an object. The Reagent Flask on the far right only accepts powdered components; to use it, you’ll first need to reduce a mineral to powder using the Transducer on the opposite side of the room.

Once all four flasks are filled, you’ll be able to press the central button on the console to mix the components together. If you have the right combination, you’ll get six copies of a single consumable If not, the lab equipment will explode, rendering it useless. At that point, you’ll need to load a previous save file if you want to try again.

The lab notes found throughout the station give hints as to which combinations work, but they can be a bit dense – some say which components not to use, rather than simply stating the recipe.

The recipes that work are as follows:

Adaptive Andidot

Flask

Component

Reagent Flask

Psi-Crystal

Catalyst Flask

Biogel

Data-Crypt Connector

Data-Crypt H-41-OK

Tissue Flask

Mutated Flesh Sample

The Adaptive Antidot is useful later in the game, when you find yourself facing enemies that deal toxic damage. Injecting the Antidot reduces a character’s Toughness by ten until the end of combat, but also renders them entirely immune to toxic damage.

Elixir of Warp Neutrality

Flask

Component

Reagent Flask

Adamantium

Catalyst Flask

Unidentified Acid

Data-Crypt Connector

Data-Crypt K-04-OH

Tissue Flask

Flesh Sample

This purple potion is useful when facing off against enemy psykers or Warp-entities. The injected character loses ten Fellowship until the end of combat, but they also become immune to Warp damage during that time.

The Elixir of Warp Neutrality can help avoid friendly fire from your own psykers!

A character injected with the Elixir can’t deal Warp damage, so it’s best avoided by Idira unless you plan to use her for buffs and support rather than damage.
