Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra Led by Amy Hennig Revealed With Amazing Visuals and 2025 Release

During the State of Unreal panel from GDC 2024, Skydance New Media and Marvel Games just revealed the previously teased Marvel project helmed by Amy Hennig of Uncharted fame, Marvel 1943: Rise of the Hydra.

We also learn that the game is coming in 2025, albeit the platforms have not been officially revealed.

We also get to see a cinematic story trailer, which Hennig says is entirely filmed in-game.

This isn’t just some custom demo that we made for the show. That’s our game. All the sequences you just saw in that trailer are all pulled right out of our game, running in real-time in Unreal Engine 5, no smoke and mirrors.

You can check out the trailer for yourself below, introducing the four protagonists of the game, Steve Rogers as Captain America, Azzuri, who is Black Panther in 1943 and T’Challa’s grandfather, American soldier Gabriel Jones, and Nanali, a Wakandan spy.

These four protagonists must overcome their differences to stop the titular rise of Hydra in occupied pairs in 1943, right in the middle of World War II.

Khary Payton plays Azzurri, Drew Moerlein plays Steven Rogers, Megalyn Echikunwoke plays Nanali, and Marque Richardson plays Gabriel Jones. We also hear about two more members of the cast, Lyne Renée as Julie, an ally and member of the French Resistance, and Joel Johnstone as Howard Stark, Tony Stark’s father.

The composer has also been revealed, and it’s Stephen Barton, known for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Star Trek Picard, Apex Legends, Titanfall, and 12 Monkeys.

Perhaps even more exciting is the presentation that followed the trailer during the panel, showcasing the real-time visuals that we can expect on top of the performance of the actors, highlighted by the same scene from the trailer with Steve Rogers and Azurri facing off, but Black Panther isn’t wearing his mask.

You can watch it in the recording of the panel below.

This is certainly a prolific time for Marvel Games, with a Wolverine game in development at Insomniac Games and a Blade game in development at Arkane Lyon

Recently, we also saw the release of the excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Midnight Suns
