Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Nintendo Switch revealed as part of Pokémon’s 30th Anniversary

Hello Trainers! Today, The Pokémon Company revealed that Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version, originally released on the Gameboy Advance system in 2004, will be released on the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 systems on Pokémon Day, February 27th, after the Pokémon Presents.

These will be available digitally for $19.99 USD or your region’s equivalency. Here is the official trailer that was shared today on Youtube:

These games do not support online play, and still only function using local wireless connection, similar to the original release, with link cables or the wireless link adapter, which was bundled with these originally. It is also currently unknown if these releases will include the event locations of Navel Rock and Birth Island. These games will have Pokémon HOME support. Note that these games do not feature translations and are sold in their respective language(s), so purchase accordingly.

Journey through the Kanto Region

Return to the Kanto region, sprawling from Pallet Town to Vermillion City, to Fuschia City and on! These games were a remake of Pokémon Red and Green, with enhanced graphics (still pixel art) with new features, like the VS Seeker, Teachy TV, and more. Choose from the three first partner Pokémon from the Kanto region. Take on Team Rocket and undermine their plans to take over the region!

Explore the Sevii Islands

A new addition that appeared in these games was the addition of the Sevii Islands, a set of numbered islands with Pokémon from the Johto Region. Explore the icy caves of Four Island, or the Tanoby Ruins, home of the Unown on Seven Island.

Which version is for you?

Each game has their own set of version exclusive Pokémon. The story is the same across both games, so you may wish to choose your version based on the exclusives. They can be traded between versions. These are as follows:
