Pokemon Go is celebrating the Festival of Colours next week with the debut of Oricorio

Pokémon Go’s Season of Alola has been out for a little bit with the Welcome to Alola event just ending. It introduced trainers to the numerous Pokémon from Pokémon Sun and Moon. Now, it’s time to prepare for the second event in Pokémon Go’s action-packed calendar for this month.

Niantic’s upcoming event is Holi, the Festival of Colours. Between March 15th and 20th, players throughout the world can enjoy this celebration of colours, which originally finds its roots in India. It celebrates the triumph of good over evil and is also regarded as the festival of love. The world of Pokémon Go will also imbibe this festival with a diverse group of colourful Pokémon.

Pokémon Go’s Festival of Colours will mark the debut of Oricorio, the Dancing Pokémon. It has a different version and based on the location, numerous kinds of Oricorio will be found.

  • Baile Style Oricorio – Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
  • Pom-Pom Style Oricorio – The Americas
  • Pa’u Style Oricorio – African, Asian, Pacific and Caribbean islands
  • Sensu Style Oricorio – Asia-Pacific region

Besides the usual encounters, raids, and field research tasks, there is a Colourful Collection Challenge for players which will award an Elite Collector Medal, 20,000 XP, 3000 Stardust and an encounter with Oricorio. Certain field researches will also offer Mega Energy. Furthermore, all Lure Modules activated during the event will last four hours.

Niantic is also hosting a special celebration for trainers in India. This will be held between March 18th and 20th, allowing players to participate in a regional challenge to catch 2,000,000 Pokémon. If the target is reached, everyone will receive a bonus reward of 2x Catch Candy. Additionally, players in India can purchase a special celebratory box containing a Lucky Egg, a Lure Module, a Rainy Lure Module, and a Mossy Lure Module for 125 PokéCoins.

Finally, everyone can also purchase new themed-avatar items that feature t-shirts with beautiful splashes of colour and more.

Celebrate Holi with your friends by downloading Pokémon Go for free on the App Store and Google Play.
