Old journeys refined and an all-new story await in Ys X’s definitive edition. Are there any deals to catch?
Ys X: Proud Nordics has sailed into the PC, Nintendo Switch 2, and PlayStation 5 harbors. If the title rings a bell and you’re thinking, “Didn’t this release a while back…,” you’re remembering Ys X: Nordics, of which this is an enhanced edition. Think Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal.
So, what’s new that Nihon Falcom can be proud of? There is new story content set on Öland Island, focusing on adventurers Canute Gamley and Astrid Zayren. Players will also find a new dungeon and the Mana Hold mechanic, which allows them to magically lift heavy objects and move them around, useful for both puzzles and combat.
Beyond that, Proud Nordics introduces technical and quality-of-life improvements, including higher resolution and smoother frame rate.
Whether it’s your first sail or you’re returning for more, you can learn all about the game in the following sections. If there are any Ys X: Proud Nordics Steam key or console deals available at the moment, they will also be included below.
Update: Already own the original Ys X: Nordics on Steam? Then, starting March 6, you’ll be eligible for a 34% off discount on Proud Nordics. Look for the details in the “What’s the price…” section below.
Are there any Ys X: Proud Nordics reviews?
The first reviews for Ys X: Proud Nordics have already been published online, and they paint an overall positive picture. As of now, the game holds a respectable “Strong” rating on OpenCritic, with 83% of critics recommending this improved version.
The main takeaway seems to be that Proud Nordics isn’t particularly impressive for returning players who’ve already completed the original Ys X. While the refinements and additions have earned plenty of praise, most of the improvements are technical or quality-of-life updates like better framerate, higher resolution, and more responsive navigation.
Beyond that, it’s largely the same game, though it does add some extra post-story content, including a new island to explore.
