Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 Title Accidentally Revealed for Sequel

The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 title for the highly anticipated next installment to Universal Pictures‘ 2023 blockbuster adventure comedy has been accidentally revealed by NBCUniversal. This comes after over a year since the project was officially confirmed as part of the Mario Day celebration.

What is The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 title?

Through a now-edited NBCUniversal press release, the company has seemingly unveiled the title of The Super Mario Bros. Movie sequel after listing it along with the studio’s upcoming blockbuster movies. At the moment, the sequel’s title has already been removed from the press release. However, thanks to other fans, they were able to screenshot the original press release, revealing that The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 has now been titled Super Mario World.

The sequel is once again being directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!) from a screenplay written by Minions: The Rise of Gru scribe Matthew Fogel. The upcoming movie will be produced by Chris Meledandri for Illumination and game creator Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. At the moment, it’s still unclear if all of the main cast will be returning to reprise their respective characters.

The first installment featured the voices of its all-star cast including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike. Despite receiving mixed reception from critics, the adaptation managed to become one of 2023’s biggest movie releases. During its theatrical run, the movie earned a worldwide gross of over $1.3 billion at the box office.
