I know this might sound stupid but not so long ago I was watching youtube and came across a "s1mple" stream (he's one of the best players in counter strike history) so I watched him play a little and the description said that there is a skin giveaway, so I clicked it and opened a case "luckily" I got a good item worth over 50 euros so I logged in with my steam accout… 3 days later when I tried to play counter-strike 2 I was logged out from my steam account and it had a completely different security e-mail and even my mobile guardian was changed. Luckily or unluckily I spend some money on cs2 item such as skins cases ect. so I was able to reaccess my account and change my password, e-mail and steam guardian. My whole CS2 inventory was stolen and the guy who traded it had a PUBLIC steam account and I could see MY items in his account!!! Please be careful with scam sites and don't be as stupid as me….

Nothing is 100% safe or anonymous on the internet, unless you made it.

i once temporarily lost my steam account by click a fake gift in my friends chat, one of my friends sent me message in steam chat, it look like a gift, i clicked and then quickly lost my account. it turned out that that friend of mine on steam got their account hacked as well. luckily i managed to contact steam support and they restored my account back. what ever you do don't click on a gift sent via steam friends chat. real gifts usually have an automatic email sent with them.

saying there is a dark side to steam implies the existence of a light side. there isn't. steam is shit, steam IS the virus.

The biggest steam scam I fell for was paying 120 dollars for the Base game of Borderlands 3. (It often goes on sale for 20, and with that you can get the game and all DLC for less then what I payed for originally)

Just be careful in general. I don’t know what happened, but my steam account got hacked. And I got a whole Lotta charges on the Steam marketplace early morning when I was sleeping. Then when I did a PC scan. It told me I had a Trojan. I don’t know how they access my Steam account nor my computer, but everything is good now

The darkest side of Steam is 30% revenue and built-in microtransactions for games.

thanks for bringing this to light. This video came up randomly for me, and I think I'll subscribe to you!:) I already have SteamGuard enabled on my own personal account, but my two gamer-sons love games, and have downloaded some sketchy cheap games in the past. I would remove these "mods" to these games as they didn't deliver on their promises, one that comes to mind is an addon type mod that I've only heard about is Icewolf.. Immediately removed that software off my son's system. My reasoning was that it's known malware, a virus, or mining software that harms their system. Thank you for bringing to light a feature within Steam that helps me become more vigilant! 🙂
