The February edition of Steam Next Fest 2024 is currently going strong, featuring hundreds of demos. As usual, Valve gives PC gamers a chance to test some of the upcoming releases, from small and largely unknown projects to surefire hits.
Since the lineup is so packed, it is pretty much impossible to check out every interesting game out there. If you don’t want to browse through the entire catalog, feel free to check out our picks. We selected the finest Steam Next Fest 2024 demos to enjoy before the event ends on February 12!

Homeworld 3
Fans of this classic series of strategies will soon get their hands on a new entry. However, before the full game hits the shelves, gamers can check out the Homeworld 3 free demo. This test version focuses on the War Games mode, which enriches the traditional gameplay with roguelike elements.
In this mode, virtual generals will face enemy forces and random challenges in order to unlock new upgrades for their ships. You can play the Homeworld 3 demo with friends, as it supports up to three players. If you love the series, it’s definitely a must-play!
Pacific Drive
Here comes a big one: a unique blend of sci-fi survival with a driving game. Pacific Drive is scheduled to release very soon, on February 22, so the demo should be a good opportunity to see whether it’s worth your time and money.
The game looks rather intriguing and is very fun to play. Despite the fact that danger may lurk around every corner, collecting resources in a post-apocalyptic world feels strangely relaxing. So does getting new upgrades for your trusty car. Based on the Pacific Drive demo experience, we may soon get our hands on a real hit!
Stormgate
After testing our driving skills, let’s get back to strategies. Stormgate is developed at Frost Giant Studios by creators who worked on some of Blizzard’s classic RTS games. Sounds promising? It’s also going to be free to play.
In the Stormgate demo available during the Steam Next Fest, you can test the game with friends or hone your skills by practicing against the AI. The StarCraft II comparisons weren’t exaggerated, as the big battles take place in a visually striking sci-fi setting.

INDIKA
This game is quite odd and equally intriguing. INDIKA is a virtual trip to 19th-century Russia, starring a nun on an introspective quest. It’s weird, dark, and humorous. And it features a devil as the main characters’ companion.
The INDIKA demo begins with traversing beautiful snowy areas but quickly takes a bizarre turn. The gameplay mixes third-person exploration with solving puzzles, while the story tackles the complex subject of faith. Fans of dark and mysterious tales should definitely keep a close eye on this title.
#BLUD
This upcoming game mixes cartoony style with vampire-slaying RPG action. Sounds intriguing? If you think that the visuals look appealing, you should definitely give the #BLUD demo a chance.
This dungeon crawler tells a story about Becky Brewster, a teenager who moves to a new town. Here, she hunts vampires with a hockey stick, supported by a cast of colorful characters. If the demo is anything to go by, it should be a bloody and stylish adventure.

Tales of Kenzera: ZAU
This intriguing action-adventure platformer caught our attention when it was announced at The Game Awards. Being a part of the EA Originals program, Tales of Kenzera: ZAU is scheduled to launch on April 23, 2024.
The demo of this upcoming metroidvania is definitely promising, with smooth, responsive movement and engaging combat. Tales of Kenzera enchanted us with its striking visual style and interesting setting that delves into African myths. It has some performance issues, but hopefully they will be fixed before the release.
Berserk Boy
Here’s yet another promising platformer, this time a very dynamic one. Berserk Boy tells a story about a hero on a quest to save humanity against the evil Dr. Genos. This 2D adventure will hit the shelves of digital stores on March 7, 2024.
And it looks like it may be worth checking out. Running around a futuristic town, collecting orbs, and crushing the enemy forces feels pretty good. The gameplay gets very fast sometimes, but if you can keep up with it, it should be a satisfying adventure. Especially for gamers who enjoy pixel graphics.

Lightyear Frontier
To wrap it up, we have something for fans of online survival games—at least those who are not opposed to checking out titles that release in Early Access. Lightyear Frontier is an open-world game about farming. And mechs. Now that’s a cool combination.
The demo allows you to check out the game’s key mechanics: piloting the giant robot, building a farm, and exploring a colorful world. It’s pretty relaxing, though players who expect epic mech battles will likely find it disappointing, as the game won’t have combat.
