That’s dope! Schedule I has a higher player count on Steam than AC Shadows

We have a new viral hit judging by the Schedule I Steam player count. Despite the day one release on Steam, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is loosing this battle to an indie game about growing and selling Mary Jane.

Given the troubled development, delays, and artistic decisions that left some players dissatisfied, there were concerns that the latest entry in the long-running Assassin’s Creed franchise might underperform. However, few could have predicted that it would be overtaken by an early access title about stash production and trade. We’ll let the numbers speak for themselves.

Schedule I player count surpassed AC Shadows

According to SteamDB, the Schedule I player count on Steam is about 4,000 higher than Assassin’s Creed Shadows. But what exactly is taking down Ubisoft’s blockbuster?

Developed by indie studio TVGS, Schedule I is a business simulator where players build their empire batch by batch. Beyond just producing dope, the gameplay involves pushing the product on the streets, managing the risks of an illegal operation, and deciding whether to go solo or work with a crew in 4-player co-op.

On the one hand, it’s bizarre to see a major publisher losing a player count battle to an indie game still in early access. However, Schedule I is a Steam exclusive, which may explain its high numbers. Meanwhile, AC Shadows is available on Ubisoft Connect, Ubisoft+ Premium, Xbox, and PlayStation, likely spreading its player base across multiple platforms.

Regardless, it’s an interesting statistic that we thought you’d find amusing. Plus, it’s a perfect excuse to share some deals on one of Steam’s hottest games.
