- Shiny variants join the fray in the latest expansion
- Ranked Matches coming up soon
- Grab more than 110 new cards
The shiny things have indeed arrived in Pokemon TCG Pocket, adding more than 110 cards to the mix and making me wish I had more Hourglasses to blow on a 10-pack pull. As you can tell from the name of the expansion itself, Shining Revelry brings dazzling new variants to the fray, with additions hailing from the Paldea region joining in as well.
Of course, as soon as the update went live, I immediately spent a chunk of my hard-earned Pack Hourglasses to open ten packs – luckily, I got Charizard EX, but not much else.
It does give me a little bit of comfort to have pulled Pokemon Center Lady from the bunch, if only because she can heal Special Conditions – a handy trick to have up your sleeve when you’re dealing with a nasty Burn.
Now, as with the previous expansion packs, the latest update usually adds an Emblem event where you earn lovely new badges to boast to your friends. This time around, the new Ranked Matches will have you battling with other Trainers as you climb from Beginner to Master Ball Rank, with points that will be displayed and an emblem awarded to you after the season ends (at approximately one month).
This means I need to flex my dusty duelling muscles again and start building my decks for real.
In the meantime, if you’re eager to join in on all the fun, you can do so by checking out Pokemon TCG Pocket on the App Store and on Google Play. It’s free-to-play with in-app purchases.
