Could Gearbox be running away from Grand Theft Auto VI?
The Borderlands 4 release date has changed. Usually, news like this is followed by delays, apologies, and promises to deliver a more polished final product. But not this time: Gearbox’s latest cosmic looter-shooter is actually launching nearly two weeks earlier than originally planned.
Naturally, the move has already sparked speculation about the potential release window for Grand Theft Auto VI. After all, both Borderlands 4 and Rockstar’s upcoming juggernaut share the same publisher: Take-Two Interactive.
Borderlands 4 release date moves up by two weeks
In an official statement, the developers have shared that they reached the decision to change the Borderlands 4 release date after “careful consideration—along with a LOT of meetings, playtesting, and incredible development work.” Originally slated for September 23, fans will now be blasting off to Kairos on September 12.
What’s more, PlayStation’s State of Play on April 30 at 2 PM PT will be entirely dedicated to Borderlands 4, so expect a full-on showcase with fresh details and gameplay reveals.
