Two classic Wii platformers are back!
Nintendo just brought back two all-time classics from its catalog, and they’ve officially landed on the Switch. While the first Super Mario Galaxy did appear on the hybrid console before, it was only through the limited-release 3D All-Stars collection, which was eventually pulled from sale.
Now, both galaxies are back, complete with a free update for Nintendo Switch 2. The games run at 1080p on the original Switch and 4K on the Switch 2, and they also feature bonus Storybook chapters plus a new assist mode to make the adventure more accessible.
If you’re thinking of picking up Super Mario Galaxy or Galaxy 2, here’s what you need to know.
Are there any Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 reviews?
Yes, and no surprise here: the Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 reviews are overwhelmingly positive, even though these are lightly enhanced ports.
Critics are calling this the definitive way to play both titles, thanks to smoother handheld controls and subtle improvements. While the new features are limited, the core experience remains some of the very best platforming ever made.
