Clash of Clans is coming to Netflix as new animated series ordered

  • Clash of Clans is coming to Netflix!
  • A new teaser trailer has been unleashed, alongside a teaser image
  • Further details are forthcoming, but it’s a major step for the series

For fans of Clash of Clans, today will be a true red-letter day, because finally, the characters you know and love are coming to the big screen! Well, the television screen at least, as a new animated series based on Supercell’s icon RTS, Clash of Clans, is coming to Netflix.

You may remember that only a month or so ago, we covered that Supercell was looking to hire a senior film and TV development executive. At the time, it was pretty fair to speculate that Supercell had ambitions to bring their properties to other media, but it seems it was happening sooner than assumed.

At the moment, we only have a brief teaser confirming that an animated series is in the works. Aside from that, a timeframe, production company, animator and other particulars aren’t yet forthcoming. But it is happening, and that’s big enough.

In terms of speculative content, the only thing we’ve got to go on is a surprisingly brawny and serious-looking Barbarian. As far as iconic units from Clash of Clans, this is a pretty clever choice. But it does suggest this may be a slightly more serious take on the franchise.

I say slightly because we all know that a super-serious, dramatic take on Clash of Clans probably wouldn’t fit the broad audience that Supercell usually appeals to. But a slightly more action-packed series, a la Samurai Jack, could very much work. For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
