Cornhole Hero offers no frills backyard sports fun

  • Cornhole Hero is a new take on the backyard sport
  • Enjoy classic cornhole, and a few new twists
  • Delightfully crunchy, retro graphics and sound included

As the summer rolls in, across the world, many of us are enjoying the first taste of warmer weather. With that comes parties, barbecues, and of course, the humble pastime of backyard sports. Now, you can take the no frills backyard sport of cornhole into the palm of your hand with Pixeljam’s newly released Cornhole Hero!

As a concept, Cornhole is pretty simple. You throw a number of bags into a hole cut into a board, simple, right? Well, while Cornhole Hero doesn’t mix up the concept too much, it offers a variety of modes, from the original scoring method, to fast-paced blitz mode and even a new twist where you use cornholes to pop balloons.

All of this is presented in a delightfully crunchy retro format. And I do mean retro, as it resembles nothing more than the original Atari 2600 itself in terms of graphics. Even the sound is crunched up into the familiar bleeps, bloops and a full soundtrack.

I am the great cornholio!

Of course, the retro aesthetic may put off some fans looking for a more hi-res, simulationist approach to Cornholing. But for the rest of us, Cornhole Hero offers a delightfully self-aware, no-frills, ad-supported offering.

Just a glance at the trailer shows all the various neat little touches that went into this release from Pixeljam. Be that the scoring system, basic physics, or even being able to knock yourself out with a poorly-aimed beanbag! It’s certainly worth a look if you’re interested.

But, maybe you really are on the lookout for something else in the realm of sports and athletics, but with a bit more of a focus on the Premier League, so to speak, then you’re in luck. Check out our list of the top 25 best sports games on iOS and Android for a comprehensive ranking!
