  • New quality-of-life features reduce Catalyst cost for hero improvement and add more guidance for new players

If you’re a fan of Epic Seven and have been hankering for new stuff going into the weekend, well, you’re in luck! Because Smilegate’s top RPG has just announced the introduction of a new prequel story, A Resolve Inherited, going live today alongside new quality-of-life improvements to boot.

A Resolve Inherited is set in a different timeline called the 6th World, which faced complete destruction as part of the universe’s cycle of ruin and rebirth. You’ll follow the characters Krau and Victorika as the central protagonists in this story, both of whom come fully voiced. You’ll experience Krau’s efforts to protect Victorika throughout the main episode and side-story content.

Naturally, Guard Captain Krau is also being introduced as his own playable five-star character. Krau deals damage proportional to the caster’s Defense, allowing for a strong offence to complement it. Meanwhile, his skills allow him to bypass enemy defences, inflict debuffs and even increase the caster’s Combat Readiness.

Guards, guards!

Even if you’re not all too invested in the ongoing story of Epic Seven I can guarantee plenty of you are already excited about the abilities that Krau boasts. Fortunately, if you’re planning on jumping in you can also enjoy a host of new quality-of-life fixes to boot.

Growth support systems for the new episode including the Heart of Orbis have been revamped, and guides for new players have also had a rework to help progress through the early game. There’s also a brand-new system called Ogre’s Armory that comes packaged that’ll help you nab essential equipment earlier.

Finally, you’ll find that the Catalysts you need for hero growth have been significantly reduced, and a variety of UI and gameplay improvements are scattered throughout.

If you need something to give you a break from the grind in Epic Seven, why not dig into our review of Magical Maintenance Mystery and see whether this intriguing text adventure has enough to offer?
