This is because the solo journey has been separated from the multiplayer Legends mode, which isn’t compatible with the Deck.
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut came to PC last year, and it was a very successful launch… surrounded by controversy. Accessing the game’s co-op mode, Legends, required linking a PlayStation Network account, a service unavailable in many parts of the world.
Because of this, even though the singleplayer in Ghost of Tsushima offered a smooth experience on the Steam Deck, it launched as “unsupported.” The multiplayer mode simply didn’t work due to the account-linking issue.
As of today, that’s finally resolved! Patch 8 has separated the singleplayer experience from the Legends mode, which is now available as a DLC. Of course, it’s still included with the game; it just needs to be activated. And it still requires a PSN account.
The new update also brings improvements for Steam Deck players. Jin’s adventures now include a dedicated graphics preset for the handheld device, and the UI has been further optimized for on-the-go gameplay.
Most importantly, Ghost of Tsushima’s singleplayer is now Steam Deck verified.
The full list of patch notes is as follows:
- Ghost of Tsushima (singleplayer) is now Steam Deck verified.
- Online Multiplayer Legends Mode is now a separate DLC on Steam.
- Various user interface optimizations for Steam Deck.
- Added a Steam Deck graphics preset.
- Resolved an audio bug that occurred for some players during the Eternal Blue Sky mission.
- Fixed a crash related to Steam Input.
- Updated AMD FSR to version 3.1.4
- When enabling AMD FSR 4 in the driver, the game now also displays this version in the menu and launcher.
- Various performance optimizations and stability improvements.
