- Legend of Ymir has launched in Korea and already found success
- WeMade’s Norse-inspired MMORPG topped the charts on Google Play and pre-release on the iOS App Store
- To celebrate there are in-game items and, well, more news about blockchain
If you’ve been following the action over in the Korean mobile gaming scene you may have spotted WeMade’s highly-anticipated MMORPG Legends of Ymir making headlines. It’s been a major success, perhaps precipitating an international release, as they’ve even had to add another server to make space for players as numbers balloon and it hits the #1 ranking on Google Play.
As for how they intend to celebrate there’s naturally going to be a suite of in-game rewards for loyal players, as well as some more inclusions in the field of, er, NFIs. Yes, success notwithstanding it seems that WeMade is still betting big on blockchain to carry the day, which may seem a bit of an oddity as that slips from headlines.
In any case, however, Legend of Ymir’s mix of Eastern MMORPG sensibilities and Norse-inspired setting and action seems to have made an impression on players in Korea. Could an international release therefore be on the cards? We’ll just have to wait and see.
Valhalla and beyond
With its Unreal engine graphics, tight gameplay and lavish production values it’s clear that Legend of Ymir is aiming to be a truly next-gen mobile release. However, the constant rattling-on about blockchain is a reminder that plenty of developers and publishers bet big on these things back in the day and are still trying to extract some value from them.
With that being said hopefully attempting to integrate that into a global release doesn’t get in the way of what, I think it’s safe to say, is a highly-anticipated launch for many of us across the world.
In any case, we may be waiting a while for news on a worldwide launch of Legend of Ymir, you can stay Ahead of the Game and find out about amazing new launches by checking out our regular feature of the same name!
