Pokémon Go’s upcoming Catch Mastery event will feature the First Bird Pokémon, Archen

  • The Catch Mastery event will take place on March 16th
  • Omanyte, Kabuto, and Archen will appear more frequently
  • Take part in Field and Timed Research tasks

Niantic has just announced a special Catch Mastery event in Pokémon Go, which puts Archen, the First Bird Pokémon, in the spotlight. Running from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm local time on March 16th, this event focuses on Poké Ball-throwing skills and offers increased chances to encounter and catch Pokémon alongside their Shiny variants.

Throughout the Catch Mastery, Omanyte and Kabuto will appear more frequently in the wild, with boosted Shiny odds. On top of that, Shiny Archen will be easier to find, making this a great opportunity for collectors. Special bonuses are also in effect, granting 2x XP for landing Nice Throws or better and for successfully catching Pokémon with Curveball Throws.

If you’re up for a challenge, you can take part in Field Research tasks where your throwing accuracy will be tested. Completing them will grant encounters with Archen, and if luck is on your side, you might even find a Shiny one.

In addition, Timed Research will remain live throughout the event, tasking you with catching Rock-type Pokémon. Completing all 10 sets of research tasks will reward you with 40 Archen encounters, further increasing your odds of finding a Shiny Archen.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Paid Timed Research for $2 will further maximise your chances of encountering Archen. A total of 40 additional encounters will be available, effectively doubling your opportunities. Just remember to complete the tasks and claim your rewards before the event ends at 8:00 pm local time.
