With so many promising upcoming AAA games in 2025, it shapes up to be a fantastic year to be a gamer! Check out the most noteworthy releases of the upcoming months.
The new year has approached, so let’s leave negativity and disappointments behind and focus on the future. While others are anxiously anticipating major events in tech or politics, we focus on things that we’re more knowledgeable about. Of course, we’re talking about the gaming industry. So, what upcoming AAA games in 2025 many of us are looking forward to? Let’s take a look at what the gaming horizon has in store for us!
This article was updated on April 1, 2025. We added three more titles: The Last of Us Part II Remastered (PC), Lost Soul Aside, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.
What upcoming triple-A games in 2025 are we most excited about?
Before diving into the list, let’s clear up a few things about the triple-A games 2025 has to offer. First, our list is just the beginning. While we’ve packed it with exciting titles slated for early 2025 and a few intriguing ones without confirmed release dates, the gaming world is full of surprises. New announcements can drop at any moment, so if your most-anticipated game isn’t here yet, don’t lose hope!
Second, the details are subject to change. Release dates, features, or even entire games can shift with one gaming conference. We’ll provide the most up-to-date info available, but stay tuned for the inevitable changes and industry curveballs. And finally, while some games on this list could become the best AAA games 2025 will offer, others may stumble under the weight of hype. At GG.deals, though, we’re rooting for every one of them to deliver the goods.
The Last of Us Part II Remastered (PC) – April 3
Nearly five years after its PS4 release (feel old yet?), the sequel to Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic hit is ready to take another platform by storm. The Last of Us Part II Remastered on PC is bringing visual enhancements, full DualSense support, and the roguelike mode introduced in the PS5 edition.
Whatever your thoughts on its narrative choices and plot twists (don’t worry, no spoilers here!), its gameplay and technical execution are undeniably top-tier. Despite its age, TLoU Part II remains thoroughly impressive in that regard, even when compared with some of the upcoming triple-A games. We’ll soon see whether revenge is a dish best served on PC.
South of Midnight – April 8
This spring, we’ll venture deep into the American South to uncover long-buried secrets and face off with local legends. South of Midnight is an action-adventure game from Compulsion and published by Xbox Game Studios. That means it’ll be available on Game Pass from day one!
When Hazel’s mother is taken away by a hurricane (along with their house!), our protagonist sets off to find her. The journey leads her to the town of Prospero, located in the Southern States, where she’ll encounter a talking fish and other bizarre creatures. During an estimated 10–12 hours of gameplay, players will wield ancient powers to battle enemies, all animated in stop-motion, which looks… kind of weird.
DOOM: The Dark Ages – May 15
DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer a spiked shield you can throw like Captain America, a weapon that literally shreds demon skulls and fires the pieces as ammo, and epic battles against colossal demons while piloting a massive mecha. It’s an 11 out of 10, take-my-money-now kind of title.
As much as we’d love to spill more details about DOOM: The Dark Ages, the reveal trailer – which got us super-hyped – has also left us without more details. But one thing’s for sure — the Doom Guy is back, rocking a medieval-inspired suit of armor, and he’s angrier than ever.
ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN – May 30
Can’t imagine a lineup of upcoming AAA games 2025 without a next project from FromSoftware, the masters of dark fantasy and crushing difficulty. Ever felt like you wanted to share the burden of tackling a tricky boss? You’ll be able to do so in the standalone spin-off, which will focus on cooperative gameplay —though don’t worry, lone wolves, a single-player mode will still be available.
While the official reveal during last year’s TGA didn’t provide too many details, the hype is real. It’s the the crowned king of the soulslike genre we’re talking about! Will it manage to meet high expectations just like Shadow of the Erdtree did? Only time will tell!
Lost Soul Aside – May 30
At the end of May, we’ll embark on an epic journey to save the protagonist’s sister—and, coincidentally, the world. Lost Soul Aside, developed by Chinese studio Ultizero Games, is headed to PC and PlayStation 5. Could this be this year’s Wukong…?
Admittedly, the trailers are splashy and eye-catching. The protagonist, Kaser, takes on enemies at lightning speed, with precise strikes and last-second dodges. The setting blends sci-fi and fantasy, offering a world full of secrets hidden among ancient ruins. We’ll see how it all comes together, but so far, it’s shaping up to be a solid, action-packed adventure.
DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH – June 26
The sequel to Hideo Kojima’s hit is set to land in players’ hands this June, for now exclusive to PlayStation 5. Norman Reedus will once again step into the role of Sam Porter Bridges, and the trailers tease a brand-new journey filled with bizarre adventures.
Death Stranding 2 carries the subtitle On the Beach, which could be a nod to the classic novel by Nevil Shute—or maybe Kojima just wants to relax in the sun. Sam will navigate an expansive world full of dangers, taking on yet another mission to unite—and save—humanity. It’s safe to say that even if it’s not the best, it will definitely be one of the most fascinating new AAA games of 2025. Let’s just hope it makes its way to other platforms sooner rather than later.
Stellar Blade (PC) – June
Lo and behold, another PS5 exclusive is making its way to Steam—and this one’s bound to turn heads! PC players, get ready to dive into Stellar Blade, the action-packed RPG where you take on the role of EVE, a fierce warrior on a quest to reclaim Earth from the terrifying Naytiba.
With this one, you’re in for intense boss battles, rich exploration, and yes, dressing up—because who doesn’t love to slay their enemies in style? The PlayStation release was well-received, and if the PC edition the pitfalls that plagued some past ports, it could be another hit. Fingers crossed for a smooth launch!
METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER – August 28
We couldn’t leave METAL GEAR SOLID Δ: SNAKE EATER off our list, and it’s no surprise why—it’s one of the most anticipated releases for die-hard fans and stealth game lovers alike. This remake of the 2004 cult classic invites you to step back into the shoes of Naked Snake on a mission to rescue a Russian rocket scientist. Of course, as you’ve probably guessed (or know all too well if you’ve played the original), things are bound to go awry—and that’s where the real fun begins.
It’ll feature breathtaking graphics, smoother, more modern controls, and the same unforgettable characters and storyline that made the original so legendary. Could this be one of the best games of 2025? It certainly has the potential to be!
Borderlands 4 – September 23
Gear up for an electrifying autumn, as Borderlands 4 is on the way! The familiar landscapes of Pandora are now in the rearview mirror, with the action shifting to an entirely new planet: Kairos. Here, you’ll become a fearless Vault Hunter, determined to take down the tyrannical Timekeeper and lead a resistance against his ruthless reign.
What can you expect? A never-ending sea of loot, a vast, open world, heart-pounding FPS action, and a slew of exciting new vehicles and traversal tools, including a grappling hook to get you around in style.

The Outer Worlds 2 – To be confirmed
If the fantasy world of Avowed doesn’t quite capture your imagination, but you love RPGs, you’re in luck—Obsidian isn’t stopping at one massive release in 2025! Their sci-fi sequel, The Outer Worlds 2, is bound to have you hooked. In this thrilling title, you’ll play as an Earth Directorate agent tasked with investigating the origins of mysterious rifts.
True to Obsidian’s style, the way your journey unfolds—and ultimately ends—will be entirely up to you. Whether you choose to resolve conflicts with diplomacy, stealth, or a little good old-fashioned violence, you’re the one charting this course.

Ghost of Yōtei – To be confirmed
Judging by this list, 2025 is shaping up to be a great year for fans of historical games set in Asia – and now there’s one more reason to be thrilled. Joining the lineup is Sucker Punch, who has announced Ghost of Yōtei, the spiritual successor to their masterpiece Ghost of Tsushima.
Not much is known about Ghost of Yōtei — not even its release date — but we can share some interesting details and speculations from the reveal trailers. While a spiritual successor, GoY is not a direct sequel, as it takes place nearly 300 years later, in the northern Japanese region of Hokkaido. This time, we will control a fierce female warrior named Atsu. Her motivations are still shrouded in mystery, but vengeance seems to be a strong possibility. Finally, one of the most compelling moments from the trailer shows Atsu standing face-to-face with a wolf. Could this wolf be her companion in the journey ahead? We’ll see, but it’s enough to keep us eagerly anticipating more.

Mafia The Old Country – To be confirmed
Could Mafia: The Old Country be one of the best AAA games of 2025?? It’s too early to say, as details are still scarce, but the series hasn’t earned its legendary status by releasing mediocre installments. So, if you’re a fan of tommy guns, long coats, and the world of organized crime, this one should definitely be on your radar.
The teaser trailer we’ve seen so far doesn’t give away much, except that Mafia: The Old Country is a prequel set in Sicily, the birthplace of the Mafia. With more details yet to be revealed, we’ll be sure to update you as soon as we know more. Stay tuned!

DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake – To be confirmed
Let’s take a break from all the new AAA games 2025 has to offer and turn our attention to the remakes of two classic Square JRPGs. The company has confirmed that Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D will launch later this year, though an exact release date hasn’t been announced yet.
DQIII’s remake is already out and has been met with a great reception. Since it’s a prequel to the first two games, you can start with that one without missing a thing.
And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen – our rundown of the most exciting upcoming 3A games of 2025!
